DATE: Friday 26th November 2021
Thank you so much to all of the families that have kindly donated toys for the Parish Bazaar. All proceeds from this stall will be given back to the school.
It is only 1 week now until the Bazaar takes place (Sunday 5th December) and it would be wonderful for as many families as possible to come along and join with the Parish to enjoy the Bazaar and help raise much needed funds for the school and Church.
Please continue to bring in any toys for the toy stall. Toys can be dropped off at the school office or children can bring them to their classroom. I am delighted to let you know all proceeds from the Toy stall will be donated to school.

We are delighted to say children can send Christmas cards this year. Please send them into school by Tuesday 14th December. To enable all cards to be quarantined, cards can be posted in the post box from Wednesday 1st December. Cards will be delivered to classes on Monday 6th December, Monday 13th December and Friday 17th December.
On Monday your child will come home with a Christmas colouring sheet. All they have to do is colour/decorate the picture and return to school with 50p attached. The pictures will be judged and 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in both key stages will be awarded a prize.
This week the Busy Bees were asked to bring R.E. books to the my office. I was bowled over by the work the children have produced and how they could all talk about what they have learnt.

We are really looking forward to Christmas this year and as, a school we have had to consider the impact of having large groups together in school and increasing cases of Covid-19 within our community. For this reason we have made the decision to hold class performances in Church to reduce the number of people coming together. We recognise the importance for the children to perform to an audience, the excitement that it brings them and indeed the joy that it provides to family members. Taking all of this on board, please note the performance dates in the letter below.
The weather forecast is for colder temperatures next week so once again this week we thought it would be helpful to remind parents of our arrangements for possible school closure due to severe weather conditions.
If the decision is taken to close school, a scrolling banner message will appear on our website homepage. We will also send a push notification via the App and we will Tweet. We will make this decision as early as possible and no later than 7:15am.
We will not close school once children have arrived, however, if during the school day weather conditions deteriorate significantly, we may ask parents to collect their child/children early but only when it is safe and feasible for the parent.
This week Year One have produced some fantastic instructions after reading ‘The Woolly Mammoth’. We decided to follow our instructions and took 'Woolly' outside to wash him. He smells so nice now. Woolly had a lovely surprise when Abel came into class with a friend for him.
This week our School Ambassadors, Eco Warriors and Well being Ambassadors have all attended meetings. Over the next few weeks we will let you know about their projects, watch this space.
On Thursday this week we had an excellent first meeting with the school ambassadors. It was lovely to get together and share our ideas as a group.
Action point for the next meeting: find out what the children in your class would like their teacher to do to show them when they have completed some good work in your books instead of the teacher writing good work or well done.
Eco Warriors:
On Wednesday afternoon we had a fantastic first meeting with the school Eco Warriors. We started our meeting by sharing some of the lovely ideas the children had thought of at home for example: making a blanket for the homeless, using pencils that have seeds in and wearing green to raise awareness and money for future projects.
Action point for the next meeting: complete a survey of the school to find out how Eco friendly we currently are and identify the areas we can keep getting better at.
Thank you to everyone for attending the parent focus group. It was great for Lorena to obtain views and formulate an action plan to support everyone at Saint Ambrose School. Lorena will be sharing the action plan in the next few weeks.
The final GO READ tutorial for parents is on Wednesday 1st December after school. The aim of the tutorial will be to support parents and answer questions. If you would like to attend please book a space. Bookings can be made via Parentpay.
Please see below the most recent parents booklet from Barnardo's.
Can we please remind you to share and discuss the ICT fair use agreement with your child and return the signed copy to school. Thank you for your support to educate our children on the importance of online safety. The Emmaus Online Safety policy can be found in the policy section on our school website.
Sadly, the expansion of internet-enabled technology means that bullying is no longer confined to its historical orbit of the school day. Victims can now be harassed through their phone, laptop, console or tablet at any time of day … or night. The positive flip side of this, however, is that it’s equally easy online to reach people with messages of encouragement and support. Please find attached the guidance from National Online Safety for Sharing Kindness Online, linked in with Anti-Bullying week. This guide brings you some easy ideas for brightening someone’s day the next time you’re online.
The website links for parental support ONLINE SAFETY have been updated to align with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021, should you require additional guidance at home; especially on the run up to Christmas please contact Mrs Brocklesby-ebrocklesby@st-ambrose.worcs.sch.uk
You are most welcome to join us in church now that Covid restrictions have been lifted. Alternatively you can join using the live-streaming facility. Please note if cases rise in the area we may make the decision to not attend Church and access Mass via the livestream-parents will be informed ASAP.
