We do our best by following Jesus

At Saint Ambrose we try to go about our daily lives by following our mission statement of 'We do our best by following Jesus'.

Our aim as a school community is to put Christ at the centre of everything we do and to follow Jesus' example in the way we treat each other with care, consideration and respect.

As Saint Ambrose, we do our best by:

Praying – Jesus taught us the ‘Our Father’ and the importance of prayer. We can do our best by saying our prayers.

Being kind and helpful – Jesus helped others in need. He cured the 10 lepers, raised a Widow’s son from the dead in Nain, healed a paralysed man and healed two blind men. We can help others in need by raising money for charitable causes.

Loving – Jesus loved everyone and taught us to love our neighbours. He taught us the parable of the Good Samaritan to teach us to show love to others. We can do our best by giving to charity and supporting others. We can be a good friend to others.

Forgiving – Jesus forgave sinners and He died on the cross to forgive our sins. He taught us the parable of the Prodigal Son whose father forgave his son for spending/wasting all his money. He also forgave the thief on the cross next to him at his crucifixion. We can forgive others if they upset us or if they have made a wrong choice like Jesus.

Sharing our gifts/teaching – Jesus was a great teacher and taught others about God. We can share the good news about God with others.

Being faithful – Jesus was faithful to God and did what he asked (e.g. teaching other about Him and by dying on the cross). We can be faithful by going to Church, saying our prayers and listening to our vocation.

Trusting – Jesus put his trust in his disciples to spread the Good News when he went to be with his father. Jesus also put his trust in God and died on the cross for us because that is what God wanted him to do. We can put our trust in God and others.

Understanding – Jesus showed understanding to the people who he met and helped us understand what we should do through his teachings e.g. parables. We can be kind and considerate to others needs and try our best in RE lessons to understand what God wants us to do.

Being Respectful – Jesus taught us to respect other people because he treated everyone fairly. He taught us the parable of the Last Sheep which reminds us that everyone is important to him. We are all born in the ‘image and likeness’ of Christ so we should treat each other with respect.
