UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO UPDATED GDPR GUIDELINES WE ARE UNABLE TO PUBLISH ANY PICTURES OF THE CHILDREN THIS WEEK.

Good Afternoon,

CATHOLIC LIFE: YEAR OF THE WORD

Sunday marks the beginning of a special year designated  by The Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales as the ‘Year of the Word’ – a campaign to  re-centre ourselves upon the Scriptures. Throughout the year the children will have opportunities to explore the word of God in the Bible in different ways, for as Pope Francis states: ‘ When we take time to pray and meditate on the sacred text, we can speak from the heart and thus reach the hearts of those who hear us.” Tonight the children will be bringing home a prayer card each and in the new year we will be having a workshop, where children and parents can discover more about the Bible together.

Look out for more information each week on the newsletter.

YEAR 6 FAMILY MASS:

Our Year 6 children have been working hard to prepare for their Family Mass on the 8th December. They have been preparing to talk about their chosen Confirmation saint and how they are inspired to be like them in their lives and how this saint will help them in their journey of faith.

YEAR 5 ASSEMBLY:

Thank you to Year 5 for a fantastic assembly. Here are a few words from them.

Today we performed our class assembly. We show cased all our hard work. We have learnt so much including, the history of rollercoasters, the materials that roller coasters are made from, how they work, forces on a rollercoaster, designing and making our own roller coaster (STEM), where rollercoasters are in the world and gymnastic movements, including mirroring, inspired by roller coasters.

Lacie-Mae, “It has been really interesting and exciting to learn about rollercoasters. I learnt about different famous roller coasters and where they were in the world on a map.”

Adam, “Our assembly was all about rollercoasters and what we were learning, it was really fun and I enjoyed being part of it. I learnt about how roller coasters work and I enjoyed doing roller coaster themed gymnastics.”

Thomas B ,“I enjoyed making our own paper marble runs and I learnt about different forces and how roller coasters work.”

Agata, “I enjoyed watching a video which showed us what it was like to be on a rollercoaster.”

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

'Advent is like a springtime, when everything is renewed and so is fresh and healthy'

St Teresa of Calcutta.

REVERSE ADVENT CALENDAR:

Sunday marks the beginning of the Liturgical year, with the season of Advent and the children have already started learning about how they can prepare for the birth of Jesus by thinking of others.

This year each class will be creating a reverse Advent Calendar to collect items to donate to the food bank and your child will be bringing a letter home tonight detailing the day they have been allocated to bring in an item for their class box.

ADVENT: NSPCC FITNESS:

As you are aware, the NSPCC have been in school recently to support our children with the PSHE /e- safety curriculum. As a thank you each year we offer to support the charity by taking part in a sponsored event. Your child will be bringing home a sponsor form tonight (some classes may already have sent then home) and all children in school will be taking part in a sponsor circuit training event as part of their PE curriculum on Tuesday 3rd December. They will need their PE kit in school on this day.

It would be much appreciated if you would support the children with their Advent commitment to help the NSPCC by completing the sponsor form by the 13th December.
