THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

'A wise man will go and grow life, but a greedy man will cut greenery for money.'

GOSPEL ASSEMBLY

Miss Holtom led this morning's Gospel Assembly, where we were encouraged to work towards God's Kingdom on earth through walking alongside those who most need welcome, love and compassion. We talked about feelings of being 'left out' and how we can welcome others this weekend. Miss Holtom was really impressed with the thoughful answers each class gave to the different questions she asked. Here are some of Y3's fantastic responses:

TRANSITION

We are currently beginning the process of transition across the school in order to ensure that all of the children feel ready and prepared for September. On Thursday 8th July all children will meet their new teacher(s) and teaching assistant. The children have found out today who their class teacher(s) and teaching assistant will be in order to ensure they feel fully prepared.

STAFFING SEPTEMBER 2021

Please see the following staffing updates for next academic year:

I am sorry to inform you that Mrs Goodsir will not be with us from September and I am sure you would like to join us in thanking her for all her hard work and dedication this year. Mrs Goodsir and Year 4 have had a great year and they have certainly worked hard to develop and grow together.

MASS

On Wednesday the whole school will be celebrating Mass virtually and Year 4 will be in Church. Everyone will be offering their prayers to Becki O'Hara who is unwell. Becki is Mrs O'Hara's daughter and she attended Saint Ambrose School and Hagley High School so we ask you all to join us and offer our support.

BAPTISM

This week I was so proud to learn that Jack in Year One was Baptised at Saint Ambrose Church last Sunday. Today in asssembly everyone celebrated Jack's Baptism . Congratulations Jack.

HEALTHY EATING WEEK

This week all the children have been doing short activities related to Healthy Eating Week.

We have been learning about the importance of drinking water and checking food labels, we have spoke about cooking fresh and healthy recipes, and we have even been thinking about how important exercise is for our health as well!

We have had a House Competition to see which house drank the most water this week, and next week we'll find out which House won!

Don't forget to try and eat at least five portions of fruit and veg a day, and if you do any cooking at the weekend make sure you tell your teacher all about it on Monday!

GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE TO HELP STOP THE SPREAD OF CORONA VIRUS

Latest update on testing and isolation periods.

  • If a child or member of staff tests positive, they now have to self-isolate for at least 10 days, even if they feel well.
  • If they are NOT a known contact of a confirmed case they can return to school if the result is negative, providing they feel well and they have not had a fever for 48 hours.
  • If they are a contact of a confirmed case, they must stay off school for 14 days isolation period, even if they test negative. This is because they can develop the infection at any point up to 14 days after being in contact a confirmed case. This would apply to pupils and staff who have been in a bubble with a positive testing child.  School Leadership will decide which members of staff have come into close proximity with the bubble and therefore also need to self-isolate for 14 days.
  • Please be aware that anyone admitted to hospital is likely to receive a test for Covid, whether they are showing symptoms or not.
  • Covid symptoms are now being classed as: a persistent cough, high temperature, and/or loss of taste and smell.
  • No action needs to be taken as a school until a test result is shared with us.

Please also note that we cannot request test results, parents have to approach us with results.
