DATE: Friday 17th July

Good afternoon,

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

As we end our year, staff have been sharing memories and we have realised that alot has been achieved this year, even though it has been a difficult and challenging time for us all. I feel this shows the strength of our community.

We are so proud of the achievements of our Year 6 children and know that we send them on to their new high schools having had some wonderful, memorable learning experiences. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday 5th September at 12'o'clock for a leavers Mass followed by a celebration.

We value many things here at Saint Ambrose, but not all are measurable – sporting, music, linguistic and citizenship skills are embedded in our curriculum.
I am happy to tell you that over the summer the playground equipment is being installed in the reception playground, a medical room is being installed along with two staff/visitor toilets.
Thank you once again for working with us to ensure our pupils are safe and happy and
encouraged to ‘dream, believe and achieve’ as they work towards their goals and ambitions.

We are really looking forward to reopening our school to all of our children from Thursday 3rd September 2020 and this week you have recieved a letter detailing the procedures for this. As you will see from the table below, classes have been placed into bubbles with teachers and teaching assistants allocated to each class/ bubble. For everyone’s safety, and in order to maintain social distancing, the following drop off and pick up time slots have been allocated to each year group:

Please remember if you have more than one child attending school please bring all your children in for the first time slot you have been allocated. You may also collect your children at the same time – ideally at the latest time slot to maximise their learning in school.

One big change is that when you arrive at school, please enter on foot via the school car park gate and queue along the pathway using the 2m marked out spots. You will then be required to exit school via St Ambrose Church pathway. During this period only one adult is permitted to drop off and pick up on each occasion – please keep younger children with you at all times e.g. holding their hand. When you collect you will be asked to wait for your child to come to you and will not be able to enter the playground or school. Children will be greeted at the front door or the gate by an adult and directed to their classroom where they will then be met by adults in their bubble.

If you need any assistance with drop off or pick up times we are here to help, please call school to make arrangements. Thank you for your support.

YEAR 6'S LAST DAY:

I feel so lucky to have taught our Year 6 leavers for the past three years and have enjoyed every moment. We celebrated our last day together doing various sporting activities in the morning and in the afternoon enjoyed a quiz organised by Miss Ballard, a yummy ice-cream and watched our leaver's memories videos. I wish everyone all the best for High School and can't wait to see everyone in September for our get together. Miss Holtom

MASS:

Mass will continue to be offered in church every morning at 10 o'clock and on Sunday it will be live streamed from our Prayer Room at 3 o'clock and at 11 o'clock on the school playground. If you would like to attend the 11 o'clock Mass please bring your own chairs and contact the Presbytery on 01562 822839 if you will be attending any week day Mass.

CONFIRMATION:

Confirmation this year for our Year 6 children will be on Saint Ambrose's Feast Day, 7th December at 7pm in Church. The children will be confirmed by Bishop Elect Evans and we will contact families regarding how to enrol your son or daughter on the programme early in the Autumn Term.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION:

Please see the document below with information regarding the First Holy Communion.

FUNDRAISING FOR THE NHS:

I am so proud this week of the achievements of the love bubble. They have raised a fantastic £200 by organising fundraising events. This week I spoke to the bubble and thanked them for all their hard work. Next term I have asked them to share their story with the whole school. I would like them to inspire other children to organise fundraising events for a charity of their choice.

RARING 2 GO LEAFLET:

Please click on the link below to access a digital version of the 'Raring 2 Go' booklet.

As venues start opening up, the magazine will be a source of up-to-date information on what's available for families (it is linked directly to the Raring2go! online What's On calendar, so it will be kept up to date with any new events and changes made as they occur).

This issue is filled with lots of ideas for families to have fun close to home, as I know many will feel more comfortable with that at the moment. Ideas include den building, craft, healthy picnic ideas, and even a sports day in the garden! But there are also details of venues/attractions that are now open - and need our support.

With a lot of holidays cancelled, parents/carers will be looking for fun activities to fill the summer break, so I hope yous find this a useful resource.

CARPET MUSEUM:

Please find below some information about what the Museum of Carpet has to offer this summer.

This summer the Museum of Carpet invites you to the Stour Vale Mill for a day of free family fun. The Museum has two weaving sheds, and four galleries decked out with modern interactives, stunning photographs and immersive videos. You can try your hand at designing, weaving or exploring Kidderminster’s history, virtually, on our clever interactives. Children of all ages are welcome to take on our museum trail, hunting Walter the Weaver around the galleries, before taking the fun home with them, with one of the museum’s new activity packs available in our gift shop. Throughout July and August 2020 the museum is offering free entry to all visitors, as a thank you for all their kind donations on crowdfunding. Secure tickets in advance on our new online booking system at www.museumofcarpet.org/book-here-2/. The vibrant textiles on display and charismatic volunteers, leading live demonstrations, are sure to excite and engage both, big kids at heart and little ones.

HAND WASHING:

Please share the video below with your child and can we also ask that you remain vigilant with encouraging them to wash their hands over the summer break.

Kind regards,

Mrs Brocklesby.
