DATE: Friday 8th April 2022
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE HAS BEEN A SLIGHT CHANGE TO OUR TERM DATES AND FRIDAY 24TH OF JUNE WILL NOW NOT BE A TEACHER TRAINING DAY AND CHILDREN SHOULD COME INTO SCHOOL AS NORMAL.
It is difficult to believe this is the final newsletter of the term. We’ve had a great Term One with so many people contributing so generously with time and support to Saint Ambrose School. The most important feast in the church’s year, Easter, will be celebrated during the school holidays. It is a time when we rejoice in the new life Christ gave us through His death and resurrection. We wish every family a very peace-filled Easter and restful holiday.
This week we have seen each class perform an event of Holy Week and I can truly say on behalf of all the staff what a joy it was to see the children perform with such reverence and tranquillity. We began each Service with a prayer and then the scenes from Holy Week.
As mentioned it is sad for many reasons within our faith but also a joyous occasion to remember the sacrifice that Jesus made.
Catholic Easter Prayer
Lord, the resurrection of Your Son
has given us new life and renewed hope.
Help us to live as new people
in pursuit of the Christian ideal.
Grant us wisdom to know what we must do,
the will to want to do it,
the courage to undertake it,
the perseverance to continue to do it,
and the strength to complete it.
We would like to warmly invite you to join some of our wonderful Year 6 pupils, at midday on Good Friday, as they lead a Stations of the Cross service in St Ambrose's church.
Thank you to everyone who has helped to raise money for Ukraine. The money has been paid into the government disaster fund and the total raised was an amazing £360.62.
Next term I am looking forward to welcoming parents into school to take part in a workshop with your son or daughter. Remember to book a place via school life. The workshops are listed below.

Before COVID our Summer Fete was a huge success and not only was it lots of fun but we raised a fantastic amount of money for the school! We are already planning ahead, have set the date and are looking forward to organising this year’s fete to be just as much fun, if not better!
Well done to all of the children who entered the TAPP Easter colouring competition. All of the entries were absolutely superb.
Please see the pictures of the winners above.
This half term, pupils have been focussing on becoming Intentional in the way they live and use the resources of the earth, guided by conscience; and prophetic in the example they set to others. In each class, our pupils have voted for who they have been demonstrating these virtues and their class teachers have nominated pupils as well. They will receive a certificate in our Virtues assembly after the Easter holiday, where our next virtues will be introduced by Miss Holtom.

Thank you to everyone for remembering the school gates open at 8.45 am and close at 9.00 am as we now no longer have a staggered start. If anyone arrives after 9.00 am they will need to come into school via the main office. Arriving before 9.00 am ensures no learning time is lost-thank you for your support.
On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.
Updated guidance STATES:
· adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and they no longer have a high temperature · children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can go back to school, college or childcare when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend · adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days |
To support our children with the growing importance of internet safety will be organising a second Internet Safety Week from Monday May 23rd.
Our children have grown up surrounded by technology and the internet. For them there isn't a difference between 'online' and 'offline', going online is just part of their everyday life.
Talking to your child regularly about what they're doing online is a good way to open up the conversation around how you can help to keep them safe. It also reminds them that you're there to support them if anything goes wrong. But we also know it can be hard to know where to start!
The NSPCC have developed a range of resources and activities to help you have these important conversations with your child. There are top tips to help keep your child safe online, a quiz to get you talking, and a word search. There's also a family agreement template to help the whole family be involved in making appropriate choices for online use. |
For our charitable work this Lent, our House Captains have decided they would like to run a Readathon and would like all pupils to take part. They would like to raise money for the charity Read for Good which provides new books for children who are in hospital.
Please support your child’s sponsored readathon by helping them record all they have read on the Go Read app.
Should you wish to sponsor your child, you can do so by visiting the following website: https://readathon.secure.force.com/sponsor and family and friends can use it too.
Please ensure all sponsorship money is donated by Monday 2nd May.
For more information, check out your child’s sponsorship card and visit www.readforgood.org.
Thank you for your support.

The Church is currently following a directive from Pope Francis to focus on reflection and sharing of the whole church. Pope Francis states,
"By walking together, and together reflecting on the journey made, the Church will be
able to learn from what it will experience which processes can help it to live
communion, to achieve participation, to open itself to mission."
At Saint Ambrose we aim to enable families to experience the wide parish Community and for us to reflect and learn please complete the survey, see link below. The results will be shared with the parish to enable us to grow and learn together.
PLEASE EMAIL ebrocklesby@st-ambrose.worcs.sch.uk if your son (years 4-6) would like to train as an altar server or your son or daughter (years 3-6) would like to read at Parish Masses.
Father Lamb extends a warm welcome to all families to continue to attend Mass. Please click on the link below which will take you to the Parish website where you can view historical newsletters and get information on Mass times.
