DATE: Friday 18th February 2022
Today everyone at school received a pack of love hearts to show how much we appreciate you all. I feel so lucky to be part of Saint Ambrose School and I am looking forward to sharing dates for parents evenings, assemblies and Masses with you all after half term.
Last night our unique ethos and vibrancy was clear for everyone to see at the annual Emmaus Pyramid Concert at Birmingham Town Hall. Year Five were fantastic role models and sang with such enthusiasm and joy.
On the 2nd March, it is Saint Chad's feast day - our yellow house team's saint. To celebrate, we are all invited to wear something yellow to mark this special day. This could be some yellow socks, a yellow hair bobble, a yellow t-shirt, which is worn alongside school uniform.
Please see the following letter that has gone home today detailing all the exciting things we are doing for World Book Day on 3rd March. We are really looking forward to celebrating our love of reading with our pupils.
On Thursday 3rd March, Class Catering will be providing a Harry Potter themed lunch for World Book Day. Your child will have come home with a menu this afternoon. Please can we ask that you complete and return by Tuesday 1st March.
This half term, we have been growing to be curious about everything and active in our engagement of the world. The following pupils were voted by their classmates or class teachers as having demonstrated these virtues. Well done!

Reception and Year One were invited by Father Lamb to church. He spoke to us all about Mass and what happens during the service. We got to sit in the sanctuary near the altar, where we watched Father Lamb celebrate Mass. He talked to use about what and why he was doing certain things.
The children thoroughly enjoyed learning all about Mass and Father Lamb chose some special helpers to help him carry out the service.
Our focus for this half term's life skills was future careers. Take a look at some of the exciting things we have been doing:
We talked about all the skills needed to be a good lunchtime supervisor… Then we organised ourselves into groups and completed our jobs!
This week in Year 6, we have had the opportunity to be teachers. Across the week, we taught each other about our hobbies and our different skill sets. We had dance sessions, a science lesson, goalkeeper training, a polish lesson, martial arts and drawing to name but a few!
The Church is currently following a directive from Pope Francis to focus on reflection and sharing of the whole church. Pope Francis states,
"By walking together, and together reflecting on the journey made, the Church will be
able to learn from what it will experience which processes can help it to live
communion, to achieve participation, to open itself to mission."
At Saint Ambrose we aim to enable families to experience the wide parish Community and for us to reflect and learn please complete the survey, see link below. The results will be shared with the parish to enable us to grow and learn together.
PLEASE EMAIL ebrocklesby@st-ambrose.worcs.sch.uk if your son (years 4-6) would like to train as an altar server or your son or daughter (years 3-6) would like to read at Parish Masses.
Pre-School have asked if any parents would be kind enough to donate any outgrown/unused pumps for their children to use for p.e. Please can you bring them to the school office where a member of staff can pass them on.
Thank you.
Father Lamb extends a warm welcome to all families to continue to attend Mass. Please click on the link below which will take you to the Parish website where you can view historical newsletters and get information on Mass times.
