DATE: Friday 6th May 2022
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE HAS BEEN A SLIGHT CHANGE TO OUR TERM DATES AND FRIDAY 24TH OF JUNE WILL NOW NOT BE A TEACHER TRAINING DAY AND CHILDREN SHOULD COME INTO SCHOOL AS NORMAL.
As we look forward to Vocations Sunday (or Good Shepherd Sunday), this morning all children watched and participated in a live-streamed Vocations Sunday assembly for the primary and secondary schools of the Archdiocese of Birmingham.
Vocations Sunday is the Fourth Sunday of Easter and is marked as the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. The purpose of this day is to fulfil Jesus' instruction to “Pray the Lord of the harvest to send labourers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:38). While appreciating all vocations, the Church concentrates her attention on raising up shepherds for God's people - vocations to Holy Orders (the priesthood and diaconate) and to the religious life - while encouraging all who are discerning their vocation to pray more earnestly that they may hear and respond to God's call.
Over the next few weeks please think about our wonderful Year 6 and Year 2 pupils who will be completing SATs.
Their attitude to learning and their effort can not be faulted and l want them to know we are so proud of them all.
Well done, everyone. Keep up the hard work.
Due to Year 6 SATs we will not be having a Celebration Assembly on Monday.
The school photographer will be in on Friday 13th May to take group photo's.
Each class had a lovely session with Liam from Worcestershire Cricket, who taught us the basic skills of cricket. We even played lots of different games!
This week KS1 took part in some Maypole dancing and they all did fantastically well. We would like to thank Mrs Lloyd for co-ordinating the dance.
Year Two spent a very special day at the beach - on the playground! They played beach volleyball and badminton as well as building sandcastles; all before eating chips and having ice pops in the sun. The children also built their own paper boats, which they were able to race in our boat pool. We have made some wonderful memories. Next week we will be writing all about our wonderful day.
Last week, the children in Year 2 learnt about saving as part of our life skills curriculum. The children took part in an interactive game and they had to complete jobs in order to earn money to reach their savings goal. They faced different scenarios where the children had to choose if they would save the money or if they would spend the money. For example, they had to choose between going to the cinema with friends or watching a film at home.
Last week, Year 2 started their new Topic, "We Are Going On A Safari". We are taking part over the next few weeks in the Extinction Project with Kidderminster Harriers Community Trust. We would like to thank Kidderminster Harriers for working with us and providing the opportunity for Year 2 to meet the Harriers Mascot.
We will be holding a Platinum Jubilee Garden Party on Thursday 26th May for all children in the afternoon. Children will be asked to dress in red, white and blue or dress up as Kings and Queens or Princesses. In preparation for the party children will make a crown in class. Please see the letter below that has also been sent home with your child today.
On Thursday, children in Years 5 and 6 received a letter about Board Games Club. The club will take place on a Monday between 3.15 and 4pm and will be run by Mrs Wallace and TAPP representatives. If you would like your child to attend, please complete and return the consent form.
Can we please remind you to complete and return the live stream consent form that came home with your child last week.
Mathew Morgan who leads the intercessory prayer network at Saint Ambrose has provided parishioners the opportunity to leave prayer intentions for the network to pray for throughout the week. Matthew would like to extend this opportunity to our school community and invites anyone to email prayer intentions to stambroseintercessors@gmail.com
The things that are achieved by the children at our school are incredible. Members of our school represent numerous sports teams and clubs outside of school, as well as representing the school with great pride at various competitions.
This week I have heard:
Alwen and Alexander took part in the Saint George's Day parade with Squirrels-see photograph below.
Well done, please email Mrs Brocklesby ebrocklesby@st-ambrose.worcs.sch.uk any achievements you would like us to share.

Before COVID our Summer Fete was a huge success and not only was it lots of fun but we raised a fantastic amount of money for the school! We are already planning ahead, have set the date and are looking forward to organising this year’s fete to be just as much fun, if not better!
At Saint Ambrose everyone recognises regular school attendance is an important part of giving children the best possible start in life. To ensure all our children get the best start in life, we will contact you and support you if we feel your son or daughter's attendance is below an acceptable level.

Thank you to everyone for remembering the school gates open at 8.45 am and close at 9.00 am as we now no longer have a staggered start. If anyone arrives after 9.00 am they will need to come into school via the main office. Arriving before 9.00 am ensures no learning time is lost-thank you for your support.

The Church is currently following a directive from Pope Francis to focus on reflection and sharing of the whole church. Pope Francis states,
"By walking together, and together reflecting on the journey made, the Church will be
able to learn from what it will experience which processes can help it to live
communion, to achieve participation, to open itself to mission."
At Saint Ambrose we aim to enable families to experience the wide parish Community and for us to reflect and learn please complete the survey, see link below. The results will be shared with the parish to enable us to grow and learn together.
PLEASE EMAIL ebrocklesby@st-ambrose.worcs.sch.uk if your son (years 4-6) would like to train as an altar server or your son or daughter (years 3-6) would like to read at Parish Masses.
Father Lamb extends a warm welcome to all families to continue to attend Mass. Please click on the link below which will take you to the Parish website where you can view historical newsletters and get information on Mass times.
