On Monday 4th April we will again be inviting parents to attend the celebration assembly at 9:10 am. If your son or daughter is receiving an award, notifications will be sent out via a push notification and email from the school office on Thursday 31st March.

Well done to last week's certificate winners. Here they are proudly showcasing their certificate after our celebration assembly.

ATTENDANCE

At Saint Ambrose everyone recognises regular school attendance is an important part of giving children the best possible start in life. To ensure all our children get the best start in life, we will contact you and support you if we feel your son or daughter's attendance is below an acceptable level.

Year Group Weekly Attendance Termly Attendance
Whole School 91.1% 92.4%
Reception 91.3% 90.6%
Year 1 81.5% 89.3%
Year 2 92.9% 93.5%
Year 3 89.6% 94.4%
Year 4 91.4% 94.4%
Year 5 93.4% 91.5%
Year 6 97.4% 92.6%

Attendance will be celebrated weekly in our Gospel Assembly on a Friday and the winning class will be able to select a treat from a list devised by the school Ambassadors.

Thank you to everyone for remembering the school gates open at 8.45 am and close at 9.00 am as we now no longer have a staggered start. If anyone arrives after 9.00 am they will need to come into school via the main office. Arriving before 9.00 am ensures no learning time is lost-thank you for your support. This week classes enjoyed a piece of toast for arriving on time.

KEEPING SAFE ONLINE

Our children have grown up surrounded by technology and the internet. For them there isn't a difference between 'online' and 'offline', going online is just part of their everyday life.

Talking to your child regularly about what they're doing online is a good way to open up the conversation around how you can help to keep them safe. It also reminds them that you're there to support them if anything goes wrong. But we also know it can be hard to know where to start!

The NSPCC have developed a range of resources and activities to help you have these important conversations with your child. There are top tips to help keep your child safe online, a quiz to get you talking, and a word search. There's also a family agreement template to help the whole family be involved in making appropriate choices for online use.

We know some conversations are going to be more difficult than others, but it's so important to have these open and honest conversations. You can use them to help your child with any worries or issues they might be facing online. YEAR 1'S CLASS SAINT: SAINT JOSEPH

Year One celebrated their Class Saint's feast day-St Joseph.

Our Class Saint's picture takes pride of place above our prayer table. Just like St Joseph, we decided to be carpenters so we spent the afternoon creating things out of wood. We made a bed and a house for Paddington. We then used a screwdriver and an allen key. It was really fun learning to be like our saint.

YEAR 4 PE

Year 4 enjoyed an extra session with Kidderminster Harriers this week.

They were split into 5 teams.  4 teams played a short game and the 5th team had to set it up and referee.

The children had great fun developing our leadership, teamwork and listening skills, as well as trying out different sports!

READATHON - Lenten Charity Work

For our charitable work this Lent, our House Captains have decided they would like to run a Readathon and would like all pupils to take part. They would like to raise money for the charity Read for Good which provides new books for children who are in hospital.

Please support your child’s sponsored readathon by helping them record all they have read on the Go Read app.

Should you wish to sponsor your child, you can do so by visiting the following website: https://readathon.secure.force.com/sponsor  and family and friends can use it too.

Please ensure all sponsorship money is donated by Monday 4th April.

For more information, check out your child’s sponsorship card and visit www.readforgood.org.

Thank you for your support.

QUEENS JUBILEE GARDENING CLUB COMPETITION

This week gardening club have planted some flower seeds to create a Jubilee Garden by the main gate. On Monday in assembly all children will be invited to enter a competition to create a Jubilee flowerbed design to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Can we please also remind you that any gardening equipment donations would be gratefully received by Mrs Farmer and our children.

OUR PRAYER TREE

Take a look at our new prayer tree which is in the entrance to our school. We have been writing prayers for all the Ukrainian people who need our help and support at this difficult time.

CRICKET ACTIVITIES

Please see the flyer below with details about All Stars and Dynamos programmes which are taking place at Kidderminster Cricket Club from May 20th to July 8th, which I’m sure will be of interest to some of our pupils.

The programmes help enhance skills in catching, throwing and batting as well as developing confidence, concentration, team work, self-discipline and friendships - as well as, hopefully, a love of cricket, and for the girls, especially, an understanding that they can play what was traditionally a male-dominated sport, they can enjoy it and play well.

If you require any more details about the programmes or Kidderminster Cricket Club, please call me, or visit kidderminster.play-cricket.com

PARISH SURVEY

The Church is currently following a directive from Pope Francis to focus on reflection and sharing of the whole church. Pope Francis states,

"By walking together, and together reflecting on the journey made, the Church will be
able to learn from what it will experience which processes can help it to live
communion, to achieve participation, to open itself to mission."

At Saint Ambrose we aim to enable families to experience the wide parish Community and for us to reflect and learn please complete the survey, see link below. The results will be shared with the parish to enable us to grow and learn together.

PLEASE EMAIL ebrocklesby@st-ambrose.worcs.sch.uk if your son (years 4-6) would like to train as an altar server or your son or daughter (years 3-6) would like to read at Parish Masses.
