DATE: Friday 10th June 2022
On Wednesday afternoon our Year 5 children hosted a bingo afternoon for parents and parishioners as part of their Mini-Vinnies project, raising money for charity.
The children did everything, from waitressing and making drinks, to bingo calling and even explaining a false call. Watching the children descend on tables in the breaks to offer drinks, biscuits, cakes and raffle tickets was similar to watching a swarm of bees land on a daffodil, so thank you to all those who were so patient and joined in with good grace and humour!
A final thank you to everyone who donated prizes and refreshments to allow us to donate all profits to charity. You helped to raise an amazing £316.10!!! The children have decided to donate half the money to SVP charity, and half to St Ambrose Parish.
This week every class has planned a stall at the summer fete on July 8th at 3.15pm. The children have put together a business case for resources to create the products they are going to sell. The business cases were presented to our dragons aka our lovely Teapot Time group. We can't wait to find out on Tuesday if we will be funded by TAPP.
Today, Year 6 have taken part in a Young Citizen's Challenge event organised by West Mercia Police at Wyre Forest Fire Station. Miss Holtom was very impressed with how well our pupils represented our school and tackled each challenge.

In our PSHE lessons this term, we will be discussing the NSPCC’s PANTS rules. These are designed to teach pupils how to stay safe from sexual abuse, without giving explicit information or telling scary stories or even using the term “sexual abuse”. In the lesson, children will learn about the ‘PANTS’ acrostic, which stands for:
• Privates are private.
• Always remember your body belongs to you.
• No means no
• Talk about secrets that upset you
• Speak up, someone can help.
The lesson will be fully age-appropriate.
More information about talking PANTS, including a short film and a parent guide can be found at nspcc.org.uk/pants
Next week all children will bring home a letter explaining the PANTS lesson and resource.
This half term, Miss Ballard will be organising a Talent Show for all pupils. The money raised will be donated to Saint Ambrose Church maintenance fund.
The competition is open to all year groups - you can enter in a group or as a solo. Any talent will be accepted - dancing, singing, acting, musicians, comedy acts etc. Get practising over half term so that you're ready to audition after the holiday!
The talent show will be held just before the end of the school year - keep your eyes peeled for further details!
Thank you to TAPP for organising a wonderful Jubilee party, as promised see the photos below.
Can we please remind you to complete and return the live stream consent form that came home with your child last half term.
Mathew Morgan who leads the intercessory prayer network at Saint Ambrose has provided parishioners the opportunity to leave prayer intentions for the network to pray for throughout the week. Matthew would like to extend this opportunity to our school community and invites anyone to email prayer intentions to stambroseintercessors@gmail.com
The things that are achieved by the children at our school are incredible. Members of our school represent numerous sports teams and clubs outside of school, as well as representing the school with great pride at various competitions.
This week I have heard:
Bobby in YR, has been playing football for over a year now and he was asked on Friday before half term, if he would like to step up and play for the older age group in a tournament at Winterfold. Bobby went and enjoyed the tournament his team reaching the final only to lose, these were the first sets of competitive games Bobby has played and he did really well.
Before COVID our Summer Fete was a huge success and not only was it lots of fun but we raised a fantastic amount of money for the school! We are already planning ahead, have set the date and are looking forward to organising this year’s fete to be just as much fun, if not better!
At Saint Ambrose everyone recognises regular school attendance is an important part of giving children the best possible start in life. To ensure all our children get the best start in life, we will contact you and support you if we feel your son or daughter's attendance is below an acceptable level.

Thank you to everyone for remembering the school gates open at 8.45 am and close at 9.00 am as we now no longer have a staggered start. If anyone arrives after 9.00 am they will need to come into school via the main office. Arriving before 9.00 am ensures no learning time is lost-thank you for your support.
Please see the confirmed term dates below for 2022/23.
The Church is currently following a directive from Pope Francis to focus on reflection and sharing of the whole church. Pope Francis states,
"By walking together, and together reflecting on the journey made, the Church will be
able to learn from what it will experience which processes can help it to live
communion, to achieve participation, to open itself to mission."
At Saint Ambrose we aim to enable families to experience the wide parish Community and for us to reflect and learn please complete the survey, see link below. The results will be shared with the parish to enable us to grow and learn together.
PLEASE EMAIL ebrocklesby@st-ambrose.worcs.sch.uk if your son (years 4-6) would like to train as an altar server or your son or daughter (years 3-6) would like to read at Parish Masses.
