Message from Mrs Brocklesby
Dear Parents and Carers,
As I prepare to leave my role as Executive Principal, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support, trust, and partnership throughout my time at Saint Ambrose School.
It has been a genuine privilege to work alongside such a caring and dedicated community. Watching our children learn, grow, and achieve has been one of the greatest rewards of my career, and I am grateful to have shared that journey with you.
Your encouragement, involvement, and commitment to your children's education have helped make our school a positive and thriving place. Together, we have celebrated many successes.
Although I am moving on to a new chapter, I will always look back on my time here with great pride and many fond memories. I know Saint Ambrose School will continue to flourish, and I wish all our children, families, and staff every success for the future.
Thank you once again for your kindness and support. It has been an honour to serve as your Executive Principal.

Dear Parents and Carers
What a busy and memorable final week we have had at St Ambrose! As we reach the end of another fantastic academic year, it has been wonderful to celebrate so many achievements, milestones and special moments together.
From Sports Morning and our Summer Fair to the Year 6 Production, our end-of-year Mass, celebration assembly and farewells, it has been a week filled with joy, reflection and gratitude. Thank you, as always, for your continued support throughout the year.
Fun and Games - Sports Morning
Our Fun and Games morning on Monday was a wonderful success, with the children thoroughly enjoying the wide variety of fun activities and challenges on offer. A particular favourite across all year groups was the water challenge, which was introduced to help everyone stay cool. Thankfully, the weather was kind to us and the breeze gave us a welcome break from the heatwave, making the morning much more comfortable for everyone. In fact, by the end of the morning, dare I say it, some of you parents even looked a little on the chilly side!
A huge thank you to all the parents and family members who came along to cheer on and encourage the children. Your support helped make the event even more special and we hope it created many happy memories for our children and families.
Thank you also to all our children for taking part with such enthusiasm, to Mrs Clutterbuck for organising the morning so brilliantly, and to all the staff for their help and support. Congratulations to St Richard’s House, who proudly lifted the trophy at both events. The final scores are as follows:

Summer Fete Success
Our Summer Fete was another fantastic success, raising an incredible £1,183.66 through the stalls, games and raffle. It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the afternoon together, and congratulations to all the lucky winners of our class hampers, who received their prizes today.
A huge thank you goes to our wonderful PTA members for their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication in organising such a successful event. The time and effort they give behind the scenes make occasions like this possible, and we are extremely grateful for their continued support of our school.
A very special thank you goes to Mrs Charlotte Strong, who is stepping down from the PTA as her youngest child leaves St Ambrose this summer. Over many years, Charlotte has been at the heart of our fundraising efforts. From helping to establish TAPP, to supporting countless events and fundraising initiatives, and most recently helping to form our new PTA committee before handing over the baton, her commitment has been exceptional.
Year 6 Production – The Pirates of the Curry Bean
Year 6 certainly entertained us all with their fantastic performance of The Pirates of the Curry Bean. From the hilarious comedy moments to the confident singing and energetic dancing, the audience was smiling from start to finish. Every child played their part brilliantly, and each one had the opportunity to shine and excel in their own way.
The journey to opening night was not without its challenges. Rehearsals were disrupted by the heatwave, transition days meant that we rarely had the full cast together, and these were certainly rough seas to navigate along the way.
However, true to the spirit of the production, Year 6 proved that the show must go on — and what a show it was! We are incredibly proud of every child for the resilience, commitment, teamwork and confidence they demonstrated throughout the process.
A huge thank you goes to Mr Holman and the entire Year 6 team for their hard work, direction and support, as well as the many hours spent organising the set, props and costumes. Thank you also to everyone who came along to watch and provide such wonderful encouragement to our performers.
It was a truly memorable production and a fantastic way for our Year 6 children and their families to celebrate the end of their primary school journey together.
End of Year Mass
We began Wednesday by gathering together as a whole school community to celebrate our end of year Mass, giving thanks for another wonderful academic year and for all that has been achieved.
It was a special opportunity to reflect on the many successes, friendships and memories we have shared, while thanking God for His guidance and the many blessings we have received throughout the year. It was also a chance to recognise the hard work, dedication and commitment shown by our children, staff, families and wider school community.
A sincere thank you goes to Fr Lamb for leading us so prayerfully in our celebration. We were also incredibly proud of our readers, who proclaimed the Word with confidence and clarity, and our altar servers, who carried out their roles with great reverence and care.
The singing was beautiful and added so much to the prayerful atmosphere of the Mass. Thank you to everyone who helped to prepare and take part in such a meaningful celebration. It was a fitting way to come together as a school family and give thanks at the end of another successful year.
End of Year Assembly
Today, we came together for our End of Year Assembly to celebrate the many achievements, successes and memorable moments from across the school year.
It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the hard work, perseverance and growth shown by all our children. Every child has achieved something to be proud of this year, whether academically, socially, spiritually, creatively or through the kindness and support they have shown to others.
A special mention must go to our Pupils of the Year. Chosen by the staff in each year group, this award recognises those children who truly live out our school mission and values through their discipleship. Well done to Tobias (Nursery), Frankie W (Reception), Delilah (Year 1), Laura (Year 2), Henry (Year 3), Julietta (Year 4), Dillon (Year 5) and Lucy B (Year 6).
True discipleship can be seen in children who consistently demonstrate kindness and compassion, who treat others with respect, who offer help without being asked and who show honesty and integrity in their choices. It can also be seen in those who persevere when faced with challenges, forgive others, include those who may feel left out and lead by the example they set each day.
Congratulations to all our recipients. Your commitment to living out these values has been recognised by your teachers, and you should be extremely proud of this well-deserved achievement. You are wonderful role models for our school community.
Celebrating Attendance
During our End of Year Assembly, we also took the opportunity to recognise the importance of attendance.
We fully understand that there are times when children are genuinely unwell or when exceptional circumstances mean they cannot attend school. However, it is only right that we celebrate those children who have attended school every single day this academic year and have achieved an incredible 100% attendance.
This is a remarkable achievement and one that reflects the importance our school community places on attending school regularly. We are especially delighted that the number of children achieving 100% attendance has continued to grow over recent years:
July 2023 – 6 pupils
July 2024 – 9 pupils
July 2025 – 11 pupils
July 2026 – 21 pupils
To see the number increase to 21 pupils this year is an incredible achievement and demonstrates the positive impact of attendance being a whole-school focus.
Well done and thank you to each of those children for their outstanding commitment. We are extremely proud of you.
Our work to improve attendance has also been recognised by Inclusive Attendance, with the school achieving its Bronze Award this year. We are delighted to have received this recognition and will continue working hard towards achieving the Silver Award next academic year.
Thank you to all parents and carers for your support in ensuring that children attend school whenever they are well enough to do so. Good attendance gives children the best possible opportunity to learn, build friendships and make progress, and we look forward to continuing this important work together next year.
Congratulations to the future Mrs Smith!
We would also like to offer our warmest congratulations to Miss Gawthorp, who will be getting married during the summer holidays.
Today, we enjoyed celebrating this exciting milestone by presenting her with cards and gifts from our school community. We hope that Miss Gawthorp, Mr Smith and all their family and friends have the most wonderful wedding day, filled with love, laughter, happiness and many special memories.
We wish them both a lifetime of happiness together and look forward to hearing all about their celebrations when we return in September.
Saying Goodbye to Year Six and Families
The last day of an academic year is always bittersweet, especially when we have to say goodbye to our Year 6 children and their families. We are lucky to have a lot of those families remaining at St Ambrose's due to having younger children in the school but we also say a fond farewell to some of our families as the last of their children leave our care. We wish the children the very best of luck as they move on to the next stage of education.

On behalf of all the staff and children, we would like to express our sincere thanks to Mrs Brocklesby for her unwavering leadership, dedication and commitment to our school, first as Principal and then as Executive Principal.
Your kindness, compassion, wisdom and vision have helped to shape St Ambrose into the wonderful school it is today. You have always led with care, integrity and a genuine commitment to ensuring that every child is known, valued and supported to achieve their very best.
Your encouragement, guidance and belief in both our children and staff have made a lasting difference to every one of us. Through times of celebration and challenge, your calm leadership, thoughtful advice and continued support have meant so much to our whole school community.
Although we will miss you greatly, we know that St Joseph's is incredibly fortunate to have you. We wish you every happiness and success in your new role and thank you for everything you have done for St Ambrose over the years.
You leave with our deepest gratitude, our warmest wishes and the assurance of our prayers as you begin this exciting new chapter.
A Final Message
As another successful school year comes to an end, I would like to say a heartfelt well done to every one of our children.
You should all be incredibly proud of everything you have achieved this year, whether in the classroom, on the playground, on the stage, in our church or through the kindness, friendship and compassion you have shown to others.
Thank you also to our dedicated staff, supportive parents and carers, governors, parish community and all those who contribute to making St Ambrose such a special place. Your hard work, encouragement and commitment are greatly appreciated.
I wish every member of our school community a happy, restful and safe summer holiday. I hope you enjoy spending quality time with your families and friends and creating many wonderful memories together.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September, refreshed and ready for another exciting year of learning, friendship and achievement.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped at the Summer Fete on Friday. Not only those who helped on the day but the quiet work that went on behind the scenes bringing it all together, especially in hot classrooms and even taking things home!
Also a huge thank you to those who came along on the day and supported the children by having a great time on the games and stalls!
We have a grand total to share of...£1183.66!!!
This will go towards so many wonderful activities and projects for our school!

The PTA have also been able to purchase new football nets, lunchtime games for the Nurture Room, the Pantomime surprise after the Christmas holidays and providing cakes for the Archbishop visit on Sunday.
We cannot do any of this without your support so thank you again!!

Free School Meals – Check if you are eligible
The Department for Education has recently updated the eligibility criteria for Free School Meals. This means some families may now qualify, even if they have not been eligible in the past.
If you receive Universal Credit, you should apply. We strongly encourage all families to check their eligibility and submit an application.
To apply, you will need:
- Your name
- Your National Insurance number
- Your date of birth
