Good afternoon everyone,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a lovely Christmas. On behalf of all the staff at Saint Ambrose's I would like to wish you and your families a wonderful 2018.

WHOLE SCHOOL MASS

At Mass on Wednesday, Father Lamb reminded us that the month of January is dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus. Every Class has visited Church this week to follow the Magi to the crib as they bring their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh on the Feast of the Epiphany.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

The course to prepare the children in Year 3 to receive their First Holy Communion on Saturday 9th June at 12 o'clock begins on Wednesday 31st January at 6.30pm. The first meeting led by Father Lamb is for parents/carers and will be held at school. The dates of the preparation meetings will be handed to parents at this meeting.

VALUES AND VIRTUES

On Thursday in Assembly we celebrated the values 'Learned and Wise'. We heard about children who are learned in the way they try their best at school and wise in their words, choices, decisions and the way they choose to live their lives.

ATTENDANCE

Congratulations to Year 2 and Year 4 who had the best attendance across KS1 and KS2 for the Autumn Term at 96.42% and 96.4%!! Well done.

STAY SAFE ONLINE

1 in 3 children are victims of online bullying - keep your child safe.

#Be Cyber Smart The Virtual World Has Real Life Consequences

Many children will have had electronic devices or smartphones this Christmas and we want to help you to help them, stay safe online.

The Hive in Worcester is holding two identical FREE drop-in events to help raise awareness of online safety and help you to protect your children from online bullying and harassment.

When and where?

The Hive, The Butts, Worcester, WR1 3PD

Saturday 20th January, 10am-1pm

Wednesday 7th February, 1pm-5pm

It is a joint initiative and people from West Mercia Police, Worcestershire County Council, Parents' Voice and Youth Workers will be on hand to give support and advice.

For children there is no difference between online and offline life. To them, it's just life. There's no doubt that the internet and social media give children amazing opportunities to learn, to develop new skills, to make connections and friendships and to interact with others. We should not be afraid to embrace it.

Come along and pick up some tips, Be Cyber Smart.
