DATE: Friday 24th May 2019

We would like to wish everybody a safe and happy half term holiday and we look forward to seeing you all when we return on Tuesday 4th June.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

'Dear young people, let us pray for peace in our hearts.'

Pope Francis.

Can we please ask that you do not send cutlery in your child's lunchbox. If your child requires any cutlery, school are able to provide this for them.

As the warmer weather now approaches can we please ask that you apply suncream to your child before school, that they have a sun hat with them and that they have a clear water bottle in school at all times.

Please can we ask that if you have any outstanding payments that these be brought into school ASAP. Reminder letters will be sent out over the next few weeks.

Please can you ensure that when collecting your child/children from school/pre-school that they are supervised at all times and they are not let to play around the cars parked within the vicinity of the school.

Can we please remind you that we are a nut free school and that your child MUST NOT bring in any lunchbox items that contain nuts in any form. This also includes hazlenut chocolate spread on sandwiches.

NOTE TO PARENTS:

We have been very busy in Reception this term. Jake, the Gingerbread man decided to run away from the oven and take us on a new adventure each day. Every morning we received an envelope with a photo in of Jake. He got up to lots of mischief. He sat on Mrs Stewart's chair and even went in Miss Brewer's car. In class we made traps to try and catch him and sent our own messages to him. Would you believe he was found in the lost property box? He is now safely back in Fairytale land making friends with the Three Little Pigs and Cinderella.

Please note that there will not be any spellings homework during half term or during the week of Monday 3rd June. Children have this week been given a set of phonics practice sheets for the following two weeks. Many thanks for your continued support.

On Wednesday Year Two went on an exciting adventure. We had to be blindfolded and entered a dark room. Inside the room was a tunnel which we had to courageously crawl through. Miss Brewer told us to use all our senses when we were in the tunnel. After successful completion we went back to class and discussed how we felt. This helped us write about the Tunnel book by Anthony Browne. We thought of some excellent adjectives to describe how we felt.

If your child is taking part in the Bikeability course can you please remember to send them in with their bikes and a helmet on Tuesday 4th June. Children are welcome to store their bikes safely at school for the duration of the course. They will also need to bring jogging bottoms/shorts into school to change into for the session.

The summer fete is now in full preparation and we have a fantastic variety of stalls attending this year.Once again we are asking for donations of bottles, beers ciders, wine, spirits, but also we are looking for glass jars containing sweets or craft.

As our track record shows we like to put on a good show and this year it will be even better, we really are going to put a real show stopper on for you!

As always we need extra help and assistance to be able to do this.

We have a number of our own stalls etc so the profit goes straight back into our school however, if you can volunteer any of your time on the day of the fete it would really help us to be able to deliver an amazing event.

If you require any further info please see our Facebook page, see us for a chat at the tuck shop or as we pick up and drop off our kids.

We are really pleased to inform you we have lots of exciting prizes for this years raffle in the run up to the fete.

The raffle tickets have gone out with your children this week. If you need any more to sell to family and friends, these are available from the school office.

They cost £1 each or 6 for £5.

When returning the tickets with the money please ensure a contact telephone number is on the back of each ticket.

We will hold the raffle the day after the fete this year as the program on the day is completely filled with entertainment, acts and a DJ.

PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO KEEP BRINGING IN BOTTLE DONATIONS FOR THE SCHOOL FETE! THE CLASS THAT COLLECTS THE MOST WILL BE REWARDED WITH A SPECIAL PRIZE. YEAR 1 ARE CURRENTLY IN THE LEAD. EVERY DONATION MAKES OUR FUNDRAISING A SUCCESS.

If you have any (undamaged) children's toys/teddies/lego etc that you would like to donate, the PTA will have a box for donations at every tuck shop/freezepop/hot dog stall until the end of June.

Kind regards.

Good attendance is very important to us here at St Ambrose Catholic Primary School and we are working hard to make sure that all children attend school as often as possible. Our school target is 96%. We understand that children cannot help being ill, but we would urge parents to do their best to ensure that medical and dental appointments are made for outside of school hours. Below is a table highlighting how time off affects a child's learning:
