Date:21st June 2018

Good afternoon everyone,

The summer fete is fast approaching and we have a huge range of exciting stalls and the PTA are now looking for volunteers to help run the stalls. Whether you can spare an hour or three hours the PTA would love to hear from you.

Please contact them via the school office.

The year 4 cake sale last Friday/Monday raised a total of £57.70 towards the school library. A big thank you from the PTA for all the donations & help.

BENEDICTION

Thank you to Father Lamb and all the Parents and Grandparents who joined the Year 3 children for tea and cake before celebrating Benediction together last Friday. It was a wonderful way to commemorate the children having received their First Holy Communion.

CAFOD

On Tuesday we were very lucky to be joined by Sean Devlin, who led the whole school in a beautiful service to remember the plight of refugees and migrants, before leading us on a walk around the school grounds. The children each thought about a specific migrant child as they walked and together we contributed 24 miles to the CAFOD 'Walk around the World' initiative.

Well Done to everyone who received a certificate this week.

The next Star Assembly is Monday 25th June.

SCHOOL CROSSING PATROL

This week we have been made aware of a review of the School Crossing Patrol Service that is being undertaken by Worcestershire County Council. Currently, the proposal to review the need for a School Crossing Patrol Person on the Birmingham Road is being undertaken. Next week you will receive a letter to identify your views, so that we can share them with the County Council before July 13th. Alternatively, you can contact Mary Rayner who is a Local County Councillor by email at MRayner@worcestershire.gov.uk

Thank you for your support.

WARM WEATHER

The children have really enjoyed the sunny weather over the last few weeks. Please note, we are unable to apply sun cream to children during the day. We would therefore recommend you apply plenty of sun cream before they leave for school. Can we also recommend children bring a sun hat - please ensure their name is clearly written inside. Thank you.

RECEPTION TRIP

On Monday, Reception went to Bishop's Wood in Stourport on Severn to build animal homes, fairy gardens and have a picnic. They had a fantastic time and have been inspired to carry on building in their Reception Garden.

"My best bit was when we made the fairy gardens. We looked for fairy footprints." (Charlie)

"I liked all of the trip." (Ted)

"I thought it was fun because we had lots of adventures." (Jaime)

"My favourite bit was when we did the colour charts. We searched for different colours." (Isla)

"I liked it when we had to find the animal footprints. I found a duck and deer." (Scarlett)

"We had a picnic outside." (Niamh)

"I learnt how to make a house for Mr Reindeer. I made it with logs and sticks." (Samuel)

YEAR ONE TRIP

On Wednesday, the children visited Warwick Castle as part of their previous topic Kings and Queens. The children had a very exciting time visiting the Great Hall and the Kingmaker Exhibition. They also explored the castle and discovered how life was for people who worked at the castle long ago.

Many of the children said that it was a great day and that they would love to go back with their parents to see it all again!

YEAR THREE TRIP

Yesterday, the Year 3 Children had a wonderful time visiting the Ludlow Resource Centre. First they put on white coats before carrying out experiments on rock samples. Then after a well earned lunch they explored the store cupboard looking at fossils. The exciting day was rounded off with a walk around Ludlow town centre looking for how rocks are used in the environment. The children returned to school with pockets full of rocks!

TOWN HALL CONCERT

We will be having a spectacular evening of music at Kidderminster Town Hall on Wednesday 11th July at 6:45pm where our choir, bell plates, clarinetists and all of our talented musicians will be performing. Tickets will be available from the school office at £5 an adult and £1 per child. Further details will be sent out after half term.

MUSIC LESSONS

Could we ask all parents to return the music interest slip as soon as possible so that we can set the correct service level agreement and price for next year. Even if this is just to give notice that your child does not wish to continue next year. Also, if your child needs to hire an instrument from Severn Arts, it is important that they do so before the start of the Autumn term (the deadline is Friday 24th August) in order for the instrument to be delivered ready for their first lesson.

BUILDING FUND

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed to the building fund, these contributions are vital to help the Academy Committee of the school raise the funds they need to maintain and develop the school building so that our young people - your children - can continue to be educated in good and improving surroundings.
