Date: 14th September 2018

Good afternoon everyone,

CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY:

There will be a celebration assembly on Monday at 9.05 am.

Parish Meetings, Message from Father Lamb:

Each year the Parish organises a series of meetings giving an explanation of the belief and practice of the Catholic Church. This year we began on Tuesday 18th September in the Monitini Room of the Parish Centre at 7.45 pm and the meetings last for about 1 hour and a quarter. This year we shall be studying the Eucharistic Prayer of the Catholic Mass. These meetings may be of particular interest to parents of children who will be preparing for Confirmation (Year 6), and for First Holy Communion (Year 3). It may also be helpful to parents who are not members of the Catholic Church but who wish to support their children in the practice of their Faith. I am also very happy to be available on an individual basis.

HOUSE GROUPS:

To celebrate the renaming of our House System we will be holding a celebration of each of the feast days of the Gospel Writers.

On each feast day all children are encouraged to come to school in a T shirt in the colour of their house:

Matthew: Red

Mark: Blue

Luke: Yellow

John: Green

On each feast day the children in that particular house will also have a special celebration of their own to commemorate the day.

The first feast day is Saint Matthew on Friday 21st September.

Saint Luke's feast Day is Thursday 18th October.

Saint Mark's feast day is Thursday 25th April.

Saint John's feast day is Thursday December 27th. (This will be celebrated in school on Thursday December 20th)

We look forward to seeing all the children in their house colour on 21st September to celebrate alongside the children in Matthew House.

ANIMAL BLESSING SERVICE:

This year the Animal Blessing Service will take place on the School Playground on Thursday 4th October at 2:40pm.

If your child has a pet that they would like to take part in the service please give their name and class and the type of pet into the office by Friday 28th September.

On the day itself the children with pets that are taking part will meet you in the playground at 2:40pm and will leave with you after the service and not return to class.

The arrangements for home time will remain the same for children who do not have a pet.

READING BOOKS:

All children from Years 1-6 will be coming home with new reading books on Monday so please continue to support your son or daughter daily with their reading.

CURRICULUM NEWSLETTERS:

Please check out the school website this weekend and read the Curriculum Jigsaw for your son or daughter. The Jigsaws can be found by clicking Curriculum then Parent Info Jigsaw.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING:

Y6 children in their role as Junior SVP members will be helping out at the Parish coffee morning on Friday September 28th between 9.30am and 11.30am. Donations of cakes to support this event are much appreciated and should be handed in to the office.

Thank You.
