On behalf of all the staff in school may I take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and holy Easter. Thank you for the many ways you have supported the children this term, not least through your generous donations to the children's Lenten Almsgiving ideas. A word of warning I think that due to time constraints some of the fundraising has been deferred until after SATS so you may still have to dig deep into your pockets yet! A special thank you to our magnificent PTA who have worked tirelessly to raise money to support the children and enthused them through their many exciting and creative events.

ST MARK'S DAY:

Today it was the turn of St Mark's House to celebrate their patron saint's feast day (officially the 25th April). They came dressed in blue t-shirts and Father Lamb came to speak to them. They then celebrated with an extra playtime, colouring sheet and chocolate bar.

HOLY WEEK ASSEMBLIES:

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who attended this week to see our children act out the events of Holy week through their Collective Worship. The children reverantly brought the events of this special week to life and made it a true talking point for all throughout the week. We are very proud of them.

END OF TERM AND ATTENDANCE ASSEMBLY:

57 children achieved 100% attendance this term!!

MUSIC AWARDS:

Congratulations to Theresa C, Luke C,Matisse M & Josh K on their music awards.

KIDZ CATHOLIC COMMUNITY COMPETTION WINNERS:

Congratulations to Natalia and Xavier H who won the Kidz Catholic Community Competition. They are pictured with the Year 6 editors of the Children's own Catholic newsletter. Look out for the next edition after SATS!

Congratulations to the children who created amazing projects for science week. They were displayed in assembly this afternoon and we will exhibit them for parents when we return from the Easter break.

Well done for your hard work and effort.

SPORTS AWARDS ASSEMBLY:

On Thursday Miss Ballard presented an awards assembly for sporting achievements this term.

Our Year 5 tag rugby team. Our u9's football winners and our u11's football runners up.

YEAR 1 CARPET MUSEUM TRIP:

On Tuesday our Year 1 class visited the carpet museum in Kidderminster. Here are some pictures of their day.

YEAR 3 CRAZY HAIR & SOCK DAY:

Year 3 raised £27 with their crazy hair and sock day.

YEAR 4 BAKE SALE:

Year 4's bake sale was a success and raised £24.15 for the cyclone appeal.

BELL PLATES:

Our bell plate group performed at the arley kings rally last weekend. They were absolutely fantastic and Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Stewart were so proud of them all. An exciting new venture for them and hopefully the first of many such opportunities.

Thank you to all of the parents who gave up their own time to get the children there.

LADS AND DADS SESSIONS:

FOODBANK FRIDAY:

Please can we ask that you continue to keep giving tins and packets of food to our school foodbank. The food collected is given to a foodbank for local distribution. Many thanks for your continued support.

The PTA craft club was again extremely attended and succesful.

EASTER EGGS:

The PTA delivered an Easter egg to each child on Thursday 11th April. If your child did not receive one or was absent from school please speak to the class teacher.

SCHOOL FETE:

PTA BOTTLE COLLECTION COMPETITION:

In preparation for the Summer Fete, the PTA would like to get a head start for the bottle tombola!  Every time a pupil brings in a bottle of drink (fizzy pop, squash, alcohol etc) they can colour in another step closer to the treasure chest. The class that is closest when the collection ends in June will get a treat! Every little donation helps make our fundraising a success.

Mike Jones will be running a photography club for our KS2 children that will commence on Monday 29th April.

Good attendance is very important to us here at St Ambrose Catholic Primary School and we are working hard to make sure that all children attend school as often as possible. Our school target is 96%. We understand that children cannot help being ill, but we would urge parents to do their best to ensure that medical and dental appointments are made for outside of school hours. Below is a table highlighting how time off affects a child's learning:

EASTER HOLIDAY FOOTBALL CAMP:

Kidderminster Harriers Community Trust will be holding Easter Football courses for children aged 5-14 years. Courses will run 10am-3pm. Cost £10 per day, £20 for two, £27 for three or £35 for four days. Younger children (5-7 years) can attend for half a day @ £5 per morning/afternoon. The Strikers & GoalKeeper days will focus on scoring and saving goals including Goal of the Day and Save of the Day competitions plus our regular 6-a-side tournament. The venues are:-

THE PARISH 200 CLUB:

The Parish 200 club is a major fundraiser to help support the running of the Parish. Members contribute £2 a month (£24 a year) and there will be monthly drawers for cash prizes. Application forms for new members are now avaliable from the School Office.

PARISH BABY AND TODDLER GROUP:

If you or anyone you know would be interested in going along to the Parish Baby and Toddler group, the sessions are held on a Wednesday from 9-11am. We welcome newborn up to pre-school children and their parents. Your first session will be free of charge and thereafter will be 80p. This cost includes refreshments for you and your child. They have an array of toys and activities for you and your child to enjoy and this is also a great opportunity to meet and socilaise with other families.
