Polite Notice

As a matter of safety and courtesy to the resident of the house, could parents please ensure that all children are supervised at the beginning and end of the day whilst waiting to enter the playground and not left unattended.

CTA FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT:

St. Ambrose travelled to Winterfold School today for the annual CTA Football Tournament. Two teams from the school took part; U9s and U11s. We acheived the best results we have had for many years. The U11's finished 6th in their age group and the U9's won overall in their age group, coming away with the trophy! Well done to all the children who represented the school today - you should be extremely proud of yourselves. Additionally, a massive thank you to all the parents who provided lifts and stayed to support.

WORLD BOOK DAY:

It was lovely to see the wonderful costumes that children came into school wearing yesterday to showcase their favourite book characters. It is clear that children like reading lots of different story books!

This year, the book 'The Day the Crayons Quit' came alive in our school when staff dressed up as the crayons and read their letters (from the book) in assembly. The children enjoyed exploring the story and writing letters from the main character back to the crayons. Why not ask your child(ren) which crayon they wrote to?

Miss Holtom.

"I wrote to the yellow and orange crayons and told them off for arguing over which was the true colour of the sun! I said that I would use the green crayon for the colour of the sun if they didn't stop arguing. I also went to Year 6 to read them my letter for inspiration for their work. It was a great day." - Luke C

"My favourite part of the day was when we got to colour the picture in all different colours to make the crayons happy." - Mia B

'"I really enjoyed the World Book Day assembly because I like the book 'The Day the Crayons Quit' and it was funny seeing our teachers acting the letters out." - Molly S

"It was a surprise to see the teachers all dressed up as different crayons and it was enjoyable to write a letter to the crayons. I wrote to the yellow crayon because I had lots of things that I wanted to say to it. In the assembly the teachers did some acting which was really good and it was great to do something different." - Edward M

BAKE OFF:

The Year 5 Bake Off held last week was another successful fundraiser. Thanks to all parents and children, we managed to raise £220.50 which will be donated to 'Shelter', a charity who help the homeless.

VALUES AND VIRTUES ASSEMBLY:

Well done to everyone who received a certificate this week.

BAG2SCHOOL:

We are having a clothing collection on 19th March and hoped you would take the opportunity for a sort out. Bags and letters went out before the half term and we would like to thank everyone who has already donated. We have spare bags in the school office if you require them.

FOODBANK FRIDAY:

The Junior SVP will be collecting tins or packets of food every Friday which will be donated to Kidderminster Food Bank. Please can your child hand any contributions to their class teacher each week. Thank you for your generous support for this worthy cause.

PTA BOTTLE COLLECTION COMPETITION:

In preparation for the Summer Fete, the PTA would like to get a head start for the bottle tombola! When the pupils return after half term, each class will have a 'Treasure Map'. Every time a pupil brings in a bottle of drink (fizzy pop, squash, alcohol etc) they can colour in another step closer to the treasure chest. The class that is closest when the collection ends in June will get a treat! Every little donation helps make our fundraising a success.

Many thanks,

The PTA.

BOOK FAIR:

Miss Holtom has arranged for a Book Fair to be held in school from the 13th March until the 19th March. Please come along and purchase some great books to encourage your child(ren) to have a love of reading and to help raise more funds for school to help with our ongoing library fund. Thank you.

WELL DONE YEAR 2!!!

Good attendance is very important to us here at St Ambrose Catholic Primary School and we are working hard to make sure that all children attend school as often as possible. Our school target is 96%. We understand that children cannot help being ill, but we would urge parents to do their best to ensure that medical and dental appointments are made for outside of school hours. Below is a table highlighting how time off affects a child's learning:

SEN DROP IN:

Appointments on a 1-1 basis can be arranged with Mrs Price - this can also be done via the School Office.

SEN PARENT'S EVENING WILL BE IN APRIL. IF YOUR CHILD IS SEN YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED CLOSER TO THE TIME WHEN YOU ARE ABLE TO BOOK APPOINTMENTS VIA THE SCHOOLLIFE APP.

A MESSAGE FROM CLASS CATERING:
