Our Catholic Mission: 'We do our best by following Jesus.'

Friday 9th June 2023

I just wanted to start this week by praising our Year One class. Yesterday they led us in a fantastic assembly which involved singing, speaking and acting. All children spoke so clearly and learnt their lines, this is a fantastic achievement for a year one class. It was a perfect example of them showcasing their God-given talents. Well done everyone and thank you to all staff for preparing the children so well and to families for supporting us.

RECEPTION WILL BE HAVING THEIR VISION SCREENING ON THURSDAY 13TH JULY. PLEASE SEE THE LETTER THAT HAS COME HOME WITH YOUR CHILD THIS WEEK. THE VISION SCREENING IS AN OPT OUT SERVICE WHICH YOU CAN DO BY COMPLETING AND RETURNING THE SLIP ON THE LETTER.

My name is Karen aka Hathi, I’m an Assistant Cub Scout Leader at Harkaway Scout group based in Broadwaters.
Our cubs are getting older and moving on to Scouts, and sadly our numbers are depleting. If your child is in Year 4 or Year 5 and would be interested in joining this activity group please contact Daisy at CUBS@KD11.ORG.UK

THIS HALF TERM'S VIRTUES: INTENTIONAL AND PROPHETIC

This half term, we will be focussing on the virtues Intentional and Prophetic.

Intentional: planning our actions and choosing to live how God wants us to.

Every action we make has an impact on other people and the world around us. If we live intentionally, we listen to our conscience and deliberately decide that the actions we take will have a positive impact. We use the earth’s resources wisely, think about the choices we make, and care for God’s creation.

Prophetic: spreading the word of God through how we live our lives.

As we choose to act intentionally and make good decisions, we encourage others to do the same. We set a good example through our words and deeds and inspire other people to act in a positive and wise way. We help people to make the right decisions
themselves and think about how God wants them to live their lives.

We will celebrate the pupils who have demonstrated these virtues in a special assembly at the end of this year.

CURIOUS AND ACTIVE

Last term, we were growing to be curious and active. Following pupil voice feedback, we added more certificate winners this time with more members of staff choosing children from across the school who they had spotted demonstrating these virtues. Well done to the following children:

RECEPTION NEWS

SNAKES AND LADDERS CLUB

We have had a successful start to the snakes and ladders club on Monday, the children in Reception really enjoyed themselves and there was some excellent counting going on.

As children got a little tired towards the end, the club will now run from 3.20pm – 3.50pm.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!

Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.

We will continue sending out regular push notifications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.

STAY SAFE ONLINE

Please read the following tips to share with your son or daughter about staying safe online:

  • Never give out personal information. This includes online people you know as well. Keep them private!
  • Never send pictures of yourself because once it’s online, it’s there forever, and it could get into the wrong hands.
  • Don’t make friends with people you don’t know. People are not always who they say they are.
  • Tell your parents/carers what you’re doing online so they can act fast if there are any issues and can vet whether the website is safe for use
  • Leave the website and tell a trusted adult immediately if you see something that concerns you or makes you feel unsafe
  • Never show your real name, age or where you live in your username
  • Use strong passwords which have a mix of numbers, letters and symbols
  • Do not share passwords with others
  • Don’t open an attachment unless you’re 100% sure it’s safe
  • Don’t let strangers into your video calls. Blur your background so you don’t give away any information about where you are.
  • Be careful who you webcam with
  • Don’t meet up with someone you’ve only met online
  • Be nice online
  • Think before your post! This applies to when you send or forward content.

Kind Regards,

Mrs Brocklesby
