Our Catholic Mission: 'We do our best by following Jesus.'

Friday 8th November 2024

To All Parents and Carers

All parents/carers are invited to an initial meeting to discuss the future and relaunch of the traditional PTA/TAPP.

The meeting will take place on Monday 11th November at 6.30p.m. in the School Hall.

This meeting is to gauge interest about whether you would be interested in being part of the steering group, organise or support school events. We understand that time is precious so if it means you can only volunteer to support one event during the school year that would be great too.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided!

We look forward to seeing you there.

Message from Mrs Brocklesby

Yesterday evening it was wonderful to celebrate the success of our most recent Catholic Schools Inspection at a Mass in school. The Mass was attended by parishioners and it was wonderful to be part of the vibrant, committed, supportive, welcoming community that sets the scene at Saint Ambrose school.

Saint Ambrose parish is made up of active communities that include the Catholic Men’s Society, Union of Catholic Mothers, Choir, Friendship Club, Scripture Club and SVP to name just a few and a Catholic school that is fully supported by Parishioners. Our school has grown due to the commitment of everyone in our parish from parishioners who are parents, grandparents, governors, members of staff and pupils. The active partnership between school and parishioners is a real strength of Saint Ambrose and a reason to celebrate so THANK YOU TO YOU ALL!

At Mass last night, Canon Lamb took the opportunity to thank our school staff team who everyday come together to care, support, guide and educate our children living out our Mission,

"We do our best by following Jesus."

Our school staff have been led by dedicated R.E. leads which have included Mrs Stewart, Miss Holtom and Mrs Laskey. I have been extremely lucky to have their guidance, vision and commitment to ensure Saint Ambrose ensures Christ is at the Centre for all our pupils, staff, parents, governors  and Parishioners.

From September 2022 Mrs Laskey led the preparation with a clear vision and guided us all to achieve our best. Mrs Laskey has supported us all promoting excellence for all who learn, visit and work here. I know staff, governors, parents and children would like to join me to thank Mrs Laskey for all her hard work.

Thank you everyone, we really can ensure Saint Ambrose Parish shines with our school at the heart.

This weekend many of our children will be attending A Remembrance Sunday parade as part of their Beavers, Cubs, Rainbows, Brownies, Girl's Brigade or another similar group to mark Remembrance Day. If your son or daughter attends a parade, please send in a photograph of them in their uniform, if you are happy for us to share it on our newsletter next week. Send photographs to ebrocklesby@emmausmac.com

Anti-Bullying Week

We are inviting children to come into school next Tuesday wearing odd socks to celebrate Anti-Bullying Week.

Next week in school is Anti-Bullying Week and the theme this year is ‘Choose Respect’. All children will take part in a range of activities to empower them to treat everyone with respect online and offline, even when we disagree.  As adults we can support our children continuing to lead by example, online and offline. Thank you for your support.

Term Dates

Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.

We will continue sending out regular push notifications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.
