Message from Mrs Brocklesby

This weekend we celebrate all the Mothers/Maternal figures in our lives and in heaven.

Please remember to say Happy Mother's Day. I love you, and I am proud you are a part of my life.

We pray that all our Mothers, Grandmothers and other women who care for children have a blessed Sunday as we celebrate Mother's Day.

Dear Lord,

Bless every mother and every grandmother with the finest of your spiritual blessings today.
Confirm in her heart and spirit the work of her hands and the love that she has so freely given to those children under Your care.

Amen

GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK

This week we have said goodbye to Mrs Hamid and Mrs Leak.

Mrs Hamid has been a lunchtime supervisor for many years and we are very grateful for her commitment to Saint Ambrose and wish her well in her next role.

We are also saying good luck and a huge thank you to Mrs Leak.

Mrs Leak has worked at St Ambrose as a 1-1 Teaching Assistant and PPA teacher. She has been absolutely fantastic and has a wealth of knowledge that we will truly miss.

FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

This week Winterfold hosted the U9 and U11 CTA Football Tournament, with 190 young players from a number of Worcestershire Catholic Schools doing their utmost to play well.

The matches were mostly very close, with a number of them going to golden goal periods and even penalty shootouts. The Saint Ambrose U9 team won their tournament whilst the U11 team secured a place in the third and fourth play off for the cup narrowly missing out on the win.

We are very proud of both teams and would like to thank staff and parents for supporting.

Dear Parents and Carers

WORLD BOOK DAY

On Thursday morning it was lovely to be on the gate and welcome to St Ambrose Stick Man, Cinderella, Fantastic Mr. Fox, the Scarecrow from Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Harry Potter, Zebra (from That’s Not my Zebra) and a whole range of other favourite characters.  This was followed by Year One and their Class Assembly that was all about different books that the children enjoy reading. Year One helped us all to answer the question ‘Why is reading important?’ The children, who had written the assembly themselves were full of enthusiasm.  They sang ‘Power in Me’ which demonstrated the importance of resilience.  Well done to Year One and thank you to Miss Brewer for supporting the children. Thank you to all the parents, carers and grandparents who were able to attend a very exciting morning.

World Book Day is always a lovely day in a school environment and our children had a wonderful day of exploring books, authors and illustrators.  Below are some quotes from the children and pictures that show how much fun was had.

Thank you to Miss Brewer, our Reading Lead who co-ordinated the day.  Yesterday, every child came home with the World Book Day voucher which can be exchanged for a book in major superstores.

Next week we look forward to taking part in the National Science Week.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs. Laskey

The children have been busy creating posters to promote the Big Lent Walk to raise money for Cafod and Father Hudsons (see below) that will take place in the last week of term. We will be sending out more information next week.

Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.

We will continue sending out regular push notifications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.
