Message from Mrs Brocklesby

D-Day 80th Anniversary prayer

Lord of the nations,
we honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who served.
Grant us similar courage in our own day,
and may those who lead the nations of the world
work together to defend human liberty,
that we may live peaceably one with another.
Amen

This week as a nation we have celebrated the 8oth D-Day anniversary, which is a remarkable event in our history.

On 6 June 1944 the Allies launched the biggest air and seaborne invasion in history, codenamed Operation Neptune (part of the larger Operation Overlord) and commonly referred to as D-Day.

Thank you to all the children for wearing red, white and blue today.

Please as families remember and honour the bravery of those who served by saying together the above prayer.

Message from Mrs Laskey

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you had a wonderful half term break and enjoyed the sunshine when it eventually arrived.

On Monday our Liturgical Leaders led our Celebration of the Word, which was based on the prayer Jesus gave us, the Our Father. Following this, the whole school completed various activities based on the special prayer. Artwork was created, own prayers were written and actions for each line were designed. The children had a lovely morning and when I met with the Liturgical Group on Tuesday, they expressed how they had enjoyed the morning and they thought of other ways we could explore the Our Father as a school in the future.

On Wednesday evening, we held our Induction Evening where we welcomed some current parents and some new parents to school in preparation for their child to start school in September. It was a lovely evening and thank you to those who could attend. We look forward to starting the induction programme to ensure the transition from nursery to school is as smooth as possible. Thank you to Miss. Brewer for organising the evening and to Miss Gawthorp and Mrs Doohan for supporting the event.

In the Church calendar the month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and today we celebrate the feast day. The Sacred Heart of Jesus represents Jesus Christ's divine love and compassion for humanity manifested through his death on the cross to redeem humanity from sin. The image typically depicts Jesus revealing his heart, often surrounded by flames, thorns, and a cross, symbolising his suffering and sacrifice. Catholics believe that through devotion to the Sacred Heart, they can draw closer to Jesus and experience his love and mercy more profoundly.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Laskey

Live Simply Ambassadors

We have been inspired by Laudato Si', a letter from Pope Francis about caring for our common home.  The Live Simply Ambassadors are developing a culture of 'buy less, share more' through a book swap.

From Monday 10th June, there will be two boxes (chosen by the Year 2 Live Simply Ambassadors) in the school entrance for both Parents/carers and children to come and swap books.

Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.

We will continue sending out regular push notifications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.

Please see the ‘Come and Pray with Us’ sessions below.

On the afternoon, please come to the School Reception (Office) and sign in. Grandparents and younger siblings are welcome to attend.
