Message from Mrs Brocklesby
Welcome to all our existing families and to any new families who have joined us this term - you are most welcome! We hope you already feel very welcome and part of the school community. It is wonderful to see you all on the playground in the mornings and after school – please do say ‘Hello!’.
There is always a member of staff on the gate at the start and end of the day so if you have any questions or queries please feel free to speak to them.
The children all look so smart in their school uniforms. I have been absolutely delighted to see almost every child wearing black school shoes – thank you parents for all your support in following our school uniform policy. It really does make all the difference. All of the pupils have settled back in fantastically and have make an excellent start to their learning journeys already. A special well done to the children in Nursery and Reception who have settled in so well – we are all very proud of you!
We do still have some places in some year groups so if you know of anybody looking for school places, please direct them to the school office where staff will support.
We are all very excited about the year ahead and all the amazing things we have planned for the pupils. Remember to keep an eye on our school website for any news and updates throughout the year.
National College - Supporting Children Going Back to School
September is here, and children and young people will be returning to settings across the country, ready to start the new school year 🏫🚌 While plenty of children will be thrilled to reunite with friends and continue their education, this can be a stressful time for some youngsters, who may be feeling unsure about a number of incoming changes. Research commissioned for Children's Mental Health Week has found that 65% of UK children have felt anxious, nervous, or stressed because of school 😬
This highlights the important role played by trusted adults when helping young people get excited to return to education, and it’s vital that parents and educators understand how best to ensure those first days back go as smoothly as possible ⛵ Our #WakeUpWednesday guide offers expert advice on how to do exactly that, letting you know how best to support children and young people going back to school.
Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.
We will continue sending out regular push notifications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.
