Message from Mrs Laskey

World Book Day 2026 💛📚

What a wonderful day celebrating the magic of reading at St Ambrose! The morning began with a fantastic assembly where staff brought book characters to life, much to the delight of the children. There were lots of smiles and laughter as everyone enjoyed guessing who was who.

Children and staff came dressed in their pyjamas, many bringing along their favourite teddy for a cosy day of stories and imagination. Back in the classrooms, the love of reading continued as the children listened to stories, talked about their favourite characters, and enjoyed the simple joy of choosing a good book.

Throughout the day, children decorated T-shirts, created their own comic books, and relaxed with special story times accompanied by hot chocolate. Activities like these help form Christ-centred pilgrims of hope with kind hearts, questioning minds, a thirst for knowledge, and a hunger for justice, as the children explored new ideas, shared stories, and celebrated creativity together.

A big thank you to Miss Brewer, our English Lead, for making the day so memorable, and to our parents for their continued support and for supplying the white T-shirts.

Feel Good Friday 🌸

Although the weather wasn’t particularly spring-like today, it was lovely to see so many children and staff brightening the day by dressing in cheerful spring colours. Thank you to everyone who joined in and helped bring a splash of colour to the school.

Small celebrations like these encourage our pupils to approach life with kind hearts and a thirst for knowledge, noticing beauty in the world and lifting the spirits of those around them.

We are looking forward to officially welcoming the first day of spring on Friday 20th March! 🌷🌼

Year Three Class Assembly – Ancient Egyptians 🏺

Wow! We were all blown away by the pharaohs, princesses, Tutankhamun, and Howard Carter who visited us this morning during Year Three’s fantastic class assembly on the Ancient Egyptians.

The energy and enthusiasm from all the children was clear to see, and they should be incredibly proud of the effort they put into their performance. The knowledge they shared was amazing, with so many fascinating facts about Ancient Egypt brought to life — many of them through wonderful songs that had everyone smiling.

Year Three shared what they have learned about life in Ancient Egypt, including the role of pharaohs, the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb, and some of the incredible achievements of this ancient civilisation. These learning experiences reflect our mission of forming Christ-centred pilgrims of hope with kind hearts, questioning minds, a thirst for knowledge, and a hunger for justice, as the children combined curiosity, creativity, and collaboration to explore history.

Well done to all of Year Three for such a confident and entertaining assembly! Thank you also to our parents for helping with the brilliant costumes, and to all parents and grandparents who came to watch and support the children.

Finally, a special thank you to Miss Morgan and Miss Parker for supporting Year Three in creating such a memorable morning.

What a fabulous week we have had! Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
