THIRST FOR KNOWLEDGE

Today we have had a fantastic time celebrating NSPCC Number Day! The day has been full of fun, learning, and maths challenges, all while supporting a great cause.

The celebrations kicked off with a lively assembly, setting the tone for an exciting day ahead. Children and staff have joined in the fun by dressing up as their favourite digit, bringing colour and creativity to the school.

Throughout the day, children have taken part in a variety of maths activities and challenges:

  • Classroom puzzles and logic challenges, including Sudoku, mental maths races, and problem-of-the-day tasks.

  • Hands-on activities like building 3D shapes, exploring symmetry and patterns, and practical maths exercises.

  • Maths games and digital resources and interactive quizzes.

  • Maths trails and scavenger hunts, encouraging teamwork and problem-solving.

The day was a wonderful way to combine fun, creativity, and learning, helping children engage with numbers. A huge thank you to everyone who took part and made the day so memorable!

Please visit our Facebook page to see photographs from the day.

Keeping Ourselves Safe Week (Week Commencing 9th February)

Next week we will be holding Keeping Ourselves Safe Week, a dedicated week of learning designed to help children develop the knowledge, confidence and skills they need to stay safe in a range of situations, both in school and beyond. Throughout the week, pupils will take part in age-appropriate assemblies, workshops and discussions that promote awareness, encourage open conversations and support children in understanding how to look after themselves and others.

As part of the week, children will take part in NSPCC Speak Out assemblies and workshops, which focus on helping pupils recognise unsafe situations, understand the importance of speaking up, and know who they can turn to for help. Children will also explore online safety through activities linked to Safer Internet, helping them to think carefully about how to keep themselves safe when using the internet and digital devices.

Our Year 6 pupils will receive First Aid training, giving them valuable practical skills and helping to build confidence in responding to everyday emergencies. Children will also attend a Mental Health Week assembly delivered through Picture News, supporting pupils in understanding emotions, mental wellbeing and ways to look after their own mental health.

To further promote positive mental health and wellbeing, we are pleased to be reintroducing Feel Good Fridays, an initiative many schools took part in a few years ago. This is an optional activity designed to help children feel calm, comfortable and supported in school. On Friday 13th February, children are invited to bring in their favourite soft toy (manageable size) to help promote comfort and wellbeing throughout the day.

This important week supports our ongoing commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing and mental health, and we look forward to sharing these valuable learning opportunities with the children.

The session is suitable for those caring for children of any age and will provide reassurance as well as practical guidance.

A big thank you to everyone who donated and helped to raise a magnificent £524.67 through the Rudolph Run for Kemp Hospice.

We are super proud of one of our pupils who has recently taken part in her first cheerleading competition at Coventry arena, where her U8 novice group topped their category.

She is now practicing and perfecting her routine for her next competition.
