Our Catholic Mission: 'We do our best by following Jesus.'

Friday 6th December 2024

Can we please reiterate that you must not park on the zig zag lines outside of school at drop off and pick up times. The zigzags are there to allow parents and children to exit school and cross the road safely by giving a better view of the road. We have been notified of a car reversing and very nearly hitting a child while using the zig zagged area to collect.

PLEASE NOTE: The KS2 Carol Concert will now be at 2pm on Wednesday 11th of December.

Message from Mrs Brocklesby

It has been wonderful this week to mark the start of the Advent season and see all the prayer areas changed to purple and dressed to indicate this special season.

This week we have also celebrated the feast of Saint Ambrose with Mass today celebrated by Canon Lamb. Tomorrow on the Feast day of Saint Ambrose, some  year six children and some parishioners will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. I would like to thank families, sponsors and the staff at St Ambrose for preparing our children.  On this special day, the children will be anointed by, Bishop David. We are so grateful to him, especially as he is planning to meet us all before the Mass tomorrow. I am sure he will teach us the significance of Confirmation and the many lessons we can take with us on our faith journey.

I would like to say a special thank you to Mrs Laskey, Mrs Shevas, Mrs Joyner and Canon Lamb who have prepared our children and families for this special moment.

Today Canon Lamb spoke to the children about the life of St Ambrose and how from an early age he was faith-filled and had the courage to talk to people about the church and his faith in God.  St Ambrose was a Doctor of the church because both his writings and teachings were so important and had a significant impact on the early church. All the children sang beautifully today, and the readers read with such reverence.

Thank you to Canon Lamb for celebrating the Mass with us and to the altar servers who helped.

This week, our Year 6 pupils have been on a fun filled three-day residential trip to the Pioneer Centre in Shropshire. Throughout the trip, our children have worked together, made new friends and pushed themselves to overcome fears and take on new challenges. They have had a wonderful time and all of our pupils should be proud of what they achieved and how they behaved on the trip, setting a fantastic example. I would also like to thank Mrs Shevas, Mrs Joyner, Miss Noble and Miss Morgan for going on the trip and supporting the children.

Please visit our Facebook page to see photographs and videos of the trip.  St. Ambrose Catholic Primary School | Kidderminster | Facebook

Reverse Advent Calendar

St Ambrose, along with the Emmaus Catholic MAC, are supporting the Reverse Advent Calendar Appeal in support of Father Hudson's Caritas. A letter has come home with your child today asking for donations of toiletries for people in need and these will be distributed to people who may be living on the streets, asylum seekers, refugees or families arriving to our country. We kindly ask that you help us to support this worthy cause.

Please find attached a Christmas Wellbeing newsletter, which is filled with ideas to support the whole family (adults and children) in improving their overall wellbeing, through opportunities that are linked to the ‘5 Ways to Wellbeing’.

Like and Follow our page on Facebook to keep up to date with all the comings and goings at St Ambrose! We currently have 187 followers lets get the target of 200 by Christmas.

Please ensure you have given social media consent on Arbor if you would like your child to be featured!

Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.

The Attendance Policy 2024-2025 states that:
Parents are asked to inform the school before 8.50a.m. on their child's first day of absence. This can be done via telephone (01562 823568) or email (enquiry_amb@emmausmac.com).  Parents are asked to keep the school informed of the child's continued absence if it does not constitute the 48 hours rule for the sickness bug.

We will continue sending out regular communications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.
