Our Catholic Mission: 'We do our best by following Jesus.'
Friday 30th June
CAN WE PLEASE ASK YOU TO FAMILIARISE YOURSELF WITH THE UNIFORM POLICY ON THE SCHOOL WEBSITE AND ENSURE THAT YOU SEND YOUR CHILD IN WEARING THE CORRECT UNIFORM. THANK YOU.
NEXT YEAR
On Monday all children will be informed about their teachers next year. Families will also receive a letter detailing transition activities in school and ways you can support at home.
Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.
We will continue sending out regular push notifications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CLUB
Today all families have received an information pack about our new Before and After School club. The club will be known as the Bee Hive Club and will open in September. The Club will be be based in the Bee Hive which is the nursery building currently.
Opening Times
The Bee Hive Club is open to children between 7.45am – 8.45am & 3.20pm - 6.00pm every school day.
There is a minimum of two qualified members of staff and a ratio of one member of staff to eight children under the age of eight years.
The Bee Hive Admissions Policy
The Bee Hive (Before and After School Club) will admit any child who attends St Ambrose School subject to availability of places, and the admissions criteria below.
The Bee Hive Morning Club will accept up to 20 children on any one day. The Bee Hive Evening Club will accept up to 20 children on any one day. The club operates a minimum staffing of one adult per eight children under the age of 8 years.
ST PETER AND ST PAULS FEAST DAY
June 29 is celebrated as the Solemnity of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, two of the pillars of the early Church, and has been a part of the liturgical calendar since the 3rd or 4th centuries.
As a whole school, we went to celebrate Mass together and we asked staff and parishioners to give feedback. We received the following comments:
Parishioners feedback:
'The children's responses were clearly expressed and confident. The little ones were particularly clear.'
'The children were very enthusiastic in their praise and worship. The teachers are very dedicated in their role.'
'I thought that the children's responses and especially their singing was excellent. Well done.'
'The readers were particularly good. Spoke slowly and could be heard from the back. It was appreciated having the words to the hymns given to use before Mass. The organisation of the children coming into Mass continues to be an improvement. An area for consideration is the attitude of the children having received the Blessed Sacrament. They could be more prayerful - not looking around at their friends.'
Staff feedback:
'Very strong readers. It is both enjoyable and helps us to understand the teachings in Mass when it is delivered so clearly and appropriately. It might be nice to have sung responses in the future.'
'Children followed Mass well with their red booklets and responded clearly. It was nice to see the Year 3 children, who have just recently received their First Holy Communion, be so well prepared during Mass to receive the Eucharist. Could some of the responses be sung at futures Masses?'
'Good participation from the children. Clear responses and clear readings. Children sat, listened and were very respectful.'
'Even though the length of the Mass was long, the younger children were keen to participate and took pride in joining in some responses.'
We will ensure that pupils are reminded to be prayerful after receiving communion and will start practising singing responses for Mass ready for September.

UNIFORM
Children are NOW able to wear summer uniform. Sandals are permitted but please do not send your child in open toe sandals. Summer uniform is not obligatory if your child prefers to carry on wearing a white shirt and tie. We are grateful to all parents who adhere to the school uniform policy thus ensuring we maintain high standards of appearance and consequently attitude and behaviour. Thank you, next week I will be contacting families to offer support if children are not attending school in the correct uniform.
THIS HALF TERM'S VIRTUES: INTENTIONAL AND PROPHETIC
This half term, we will be focussing on the virtues Intentional and Prophetic.
Intentional: planning our actions and choosing to live how God wants us to.
Every action we make has an impact on other people and the world around us. If we live intentionally, we listen to our conscience and deliberately decide that the actions we take will have a positive impact. We use the earth’s resources wisely, think about the choices we make, and care for God’s creation.
Prophetic: spreading the word of God through how we live our lives.
As we choose to act intentionally and make good decisions, we encourage others to do the same. We set a good example through our words and deeds and inspire other people to act in a positive and wise way. We help people to make the right decisions
themselves and think about how God wants them to live their lives.
We will celebrate the pupils who have demonstrated these virtues in a special assembly at the end of this year.

STAY SAFE ONLINE
Please read the following tips to share with your son or daughter about staying safe online:
- Never give out personal information. This includes online people you know as well. Keep them private!
- Never send pictures of yourself because once it’s online, it’s there forever, and it could get into the wrong hands.
- Don’t make friends with people you don’t know. People are not always who they say they are.
- Tell your parents/carers what you’re doing online so they can act fast if there are any issues and can vet whether the website is safe for use
- Leave the website and tell a trusted adult immediately if you see something that concerns you or makes you feel unsafe
- Never show your real name, age or where you live in your username
- Use strong passwords which have a mix of numbers, letters and symbols
- Do not share passwords with others
- Don’t open an attachment unless you’re 100% sure it’s safe
- Don’t let strangers into your video calls. Blur your background so you don’t give away any information about where you are.
- Be careful who you webcam with
- Don’t meet up with someone you’ve only met online
- Be nice online
- Think before your post! This applies to when you send or forward content.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Brocklesby
