Message from Mrs Brocklesby

We are filled with joy and pride as we share that last Saturday, some of our wonderful Year 3 children made their First Holy Communion at Saint Ambrose Church.

It was a truly special and sacred occasion, marking an important step in their spiritual journey. The children participated with reverence and grace, supported by their families, teachers, and parish community. Their preparation and dedication shone through, making the day memorable for everyone involved.

We thank all who helped make this celebration so meaningful, especially Canon Lamb, Mrs Laskey, Miss Morgan and our supportive school staff.

Congratulations to all our communicants – may this be the beginning of a lifelong relationship with faith, love, and community.

A heartfelt thank you to all the First Holy Communicants who took part in the Corpus Christi procession last Sunday. Your presence and participation added such beauty and reverence to this special celebration of our faith.

The children represented our school and parish community with grace and dignity, and we are incredibly proud of them. Thank you also to the families who supported them and helped make the event so meaningful.

We were delighted today to invite families to our Year 2 Assembly where the children brought history to life with their performance of "The Great Fire of London"! What a performance! From the very first note of the opening song to the final round of applause, it was clear just how much hard work, creativity and enthusiasm had gone into every moment. There was singing, dancing, impressive gymnastics, and of course, the traditional Year Two joke that had us all laughing! It was also lovely to see how much they have enjoyed learning about London and its history.

Well done to all the children and a big thank you to the staff who helped bring the performance together. We’re incredibly proud of you!

It was a fun, educational, and heart warming assembly that showcased the children’s creativity and teamwork.

At Saint Ambrose, we are continually striving to ensure that the curriculum we deliver both inspires and equips our children for life in the modern world.

We are committed to providing a rich, engaging, and forward-thinking education that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Through a broad and balanced curriculum, we aim to develop not only academic excellence but also the essential life skills and values our pupils need to thrive in an ever-changing global society.

This commitment has been clearly evident this week, as our pupils have taken part in enriching educational visits that brought their learning to life:

  • Year 4 enjoyed an exciting trip to Ironbridge, where they explored the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and deepened their understanding of history and engineering.
  • Year 6 visited the Thinktank Science Museum, engaging with hands-on exhibits that sparked curiosity and expanded their knowledge of science and technology.

These experiences not only enhance classroom learning but also help our children make meaningful connections with the world around them.

Please take time over the weekend to complete a microsoft forms sent out by Mrs Brewer to develop our Dream Big Curriculum. Thank you to those parents who have already completed it.

To support our pupils and to help them feel confident and excited about the year ahead, we will be informing you and the children on Monday of their class teacher for September.

Additionally, we are pleased to confirm that the transition morning with their new teacher will take place on Friday 4th July. This important activity will give children the opportunity to spend time in their new classroom environment, meet their teacher, and begin building relationships that will support a positive start to the new academic year.

We thank you for your continued support and trust in our school. We remain committed to providing a nurturing and inspiring environment for all our pupils and look forward to an exciting year ahead.

The Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.

Amen

Attendance

Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.

The Attendance Policy 2024-2025 states that:
Parents are asked to inform the school before 8.50a.m. on their child's first day of absence. This can be done via telephone (01562 823568) or email (enquiry_amb@emmausmac.com).  Parents are asked to keep the school informed of the child's continued absence if it does not constitute the 48 hours rule for the sickness bug.

We will continue sending out regular communications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.

Times of the School Day

The UCM (United Catholic Mothers) meet every other Monday evening at 7pm in term time and would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to become a member. They play a pivotal role fundraising activities for the Church and also devote their time to helping out at school functions such as school fete, holy communion etc. You wouldn't necessarily have to come to all the meetings but any availability to help out at functions would be very much appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Mrs Brocklesby and Mrs Laskey
