Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.

We will continue sending out regular push notifications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

NOTE FROM YEAR 3

In preparation for our First Holy Communion Display, we learnt about transubstantiation – the Holy Spirit turns the bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

To celebrate and share our learning about the Eucharist, we made our own monstrance's to share with the parish for our First Holy Communion Display.

We had a fantastic day celebrating the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. We were respectful, reverent and very grown up.

We worked with our parents and teachers to ensure we were ready, and we definitely showed we were!

We then finished the celebration with a shared lunch in the Parish Hall!

Back at school, we had a lovely afternoon celebrating the children in Year 3 who received their First Holy Communion at the weekend!

RECEPTION CLASS ASSEMBLY

Yesterday, I was so impressed with our Reception Class who sang, danced and read beautifully throughout their assembly. They delivered the important message, 'We are all made in the image and likeness  of God.' Well Done Reception!

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Skools Out who have served the community for over 10 years.

Staff have maintained a fun and caring Before and After School Club providing a quality of care for all children. I am sure you would like to also wish Sarah lots of luck on her new venture and thank her for her commitment to families at Saint Ambrose.

I am delighted to inform you that from September Before School and After School Club will be run by school staff between 7:45 – 8:45am each morning and 3:20- 6:00pm in the afternoon. On Friday 30th June we will be sharing our Before School and After School Club prospectus with all parents which will contain prices and booking information for 23-24. All sessions can be booked from Monday July 3rd via ParentPay.

ARTS WEEK

This week, St Ambrose have been focusing on the different forms of art for Sky Arts week 2023. We have completed photography, drama. Poetry, story telling and much more! The children have enjoyed a fun week exploring all the arts and some even gaining ideas for possible vocations in the future.

We are grateful to all parents who adhere to the school uniform policy thus ensuring we maintain high standards of appearance and consequently attitude and behaviour. Thank you, next week I will be contacting families to offer support if children are not attending school in the correct uniform.

THIS HALF TERM'S VIRTUES: INTENTIONAL AND PROPHETIC

This half term, we will be focussing on the virtues Intentional and Prophetic.

Intentional: planning our actions and choosing to live how God wants us to.

Every action we make has an impact on other people and the world around us. If we live intentionally, we listen to our conscience and deliberately decide that the actions we take will have a positive impact. We use the earth’s resources wisely, think about the choices we make, and care for God’s creation.

Prophetic: spreading the word of God through how we live our lives.

As we choose to act intentionally and make good decisions, we encourage others to do the same. We set a good example through our words and deeds and inspire other people to act in a positive and wise way. We help people to make the right decisions
themselves and think about how God wants them to live their lives.

We will celebrate the pupils who have demonstrated these virtues in a special assembly at the end of this year.

STAY SAFE ONLINE

Please read the following tips to share with your son or daughter about staying safe online:

  • Never give out personal information. This includes online people you know as well. Keep them private!
  • Never send pictures of yourself because once it’s online, it’s there forever, and it could get into the wrong hands.
  • Don’t make friends with people you don’t know. People are not always who they say they are.
  • Tell your parents/carers what you’re doing online so they can act fast if there are any issues and can vet whether the website is safe for use
  • Leave the website and tell a trusted adult immediately if you see something that concerns you or makes you feel unsafe
  • Never show your real name, age or where you live in your username
  • Use strong passwords which have a mix of numbers, letters and symbols
  • Do not share passwords with others
  • Don’t open an attachment unless you’re 100% sure it’s safe
  • Don’t let strangers into your video calls. Blur your background so you don’t give away any information about where you are.
  • Be careful who you webcam with
  • Don’t meet up with someone you’ve only met online
  • Be nice online
  • Think before your post! This applies to when you send or forward content.

Kind Regards,

Mrs Brocklesby
