First Holy Communion

We're thrilled to share the news that some of our wonderful Year 3 children and children from the Parish celebrated their First Holy Communion last Saturday at Saint Ambrose Church. It was a truly special ceremony filled with love, faith and joy! The children looked absolutely angelic in their beautiful attire as they received this important sacrament surrounded by their families and friends. It was wonderful to  come together back in the Parish Centre to congratulate  everyone on this significant milestone in their faith journey. We're incredibly proud of each and every one of them! Thank you once again to Father Lamb, Mrs Laskey, Mrs Shevas and Mrs George and all our wonderful staff and families who supported and prepared our children.

Mass for Saint Richard's House Group.

It was wonderful on Monday to join Saint Richard's House at Mass. Father Lamb talked to us about Saint Richard and how he is linked to Droitwich.

Did you know?

Saint Richard was born in Droitwich in 1197 (then called Wyche). He was born in the old Manor House of Wyche, this is now known as the Raven Hotel. He became known by his place of birth, Richard de la Wyche.

Father Lamb has encouraged us all to visit the Church of the Sacred Heart and Saint Catherine of Alexandria in Droitwich Spa. The Church has stunning mosaics that depict the life of Saint Richard.

Saint Richard's Prayer

I pray: To see you more clearly, love you more dearly, follow you more nearly, day by day.

Amen

Car park

Thank you to everyone for remembering the car park is not available for use at the start or the end of the day. If you have a car park pass for health reasons, please drop off at 9.00 am and collect from the car park after 3.25 pm. Miss Downs will contact families who currently have a pass to confirm you have permission. If you would like to apply for a pass please contact the school office.

Message from Mrs Laskey

Dear Parents and Carers

On Saturday 25 children from St Ambrose received their First Holy Communion. It was a wonderful celebration with everyone's family and friends present. The children were very excited to start with and then demonstrated great reverence and respect for what they were about to receive. It was a very special day and everyone took part in some way, even the weather stayed dry for the Mass and the shared breakfast afterwards. Thank you to the children who read, to the parents who donated food for the shared breakfast, the members of the UCM, altar servers including Anthony and to Canon Lamb and Deacon Charles.

Today during the Celebration Assembly the Liturgical Group introduced the children to the word and purpose of a novena. A novena is 9 days of prayer before an important event or celebration. As a school our second 'Our Father' morning for the Year of Prayer is on Monday 1st July. So the Liturgical Group would like the children to say the Our Father every day for nine days in the lead up to this. Please support your child with this over the next two weekends.

I wish you all a lovely weekend with hopefully some sunshine.

Year 6 Trip to Oscott

Last week Year 6 went to St Mary's College, Oscott for an educational day about Catholicism and life as a priest - what a fantastic day it was!

We met a number of seminaries who are in training for priesthood. They spoke to us about their lives, their training and their calling to God. We learnt about the Mass and the Eucharist in more detail. We took part in a prayer and meditation session, and saw the chapel and museum - one of the relics was from 56BC!

It was really interesting to see the museum - it was full of interesting artefacts and some of them were extremely old!
Mihaela

We went into the side chapel and saw a confession box that was over 400 years old. We also did brass rubbings of the plaques on the floor and wall.
Charlie

It was interesting to see old bibles that were written in Latin, and then we heard part of the Mass in Latin.
Isla

I enjoyed the day a lot more than I was expecting to. It was really interesting to hear about the seminaries lives, and I was shocked to hear they even play football!
Tyler

I didn't expect to hear about how normal the seminaries lives are! They have lots of free time to enjoy hobbies, and they even have a bar in the college!

SMOKE FREE HOMES

My name is Selena and I am a smoking cessation advisor for smoke free homes. I work alongside the health visitors.
We have recently been able to open up our service to more parents/carers who live with young people under the age of 19.
Please see the poster for more information. It is such an important service that can change families lives for the better, and will help to building  a smoke free generation. We do offer vapes as part of our NRT (nicotine replacement therapy)

Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.

We will continue sending out regular push notifications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.

Please see the ‘Come and Pray with Us’ sessions below.

On the afternoon, please come to the School Reception (Office) and sign in. Grandparents and younger siblings are welcome to attend.
