Message from Mrs Brocklesby

Yesterday Mr. Bell the Diocesan Director of Education visited Saint Ambrose School along with Mrs Horan Emmaus CSEL. Mrs Laskey and I were very proud of all our pupils as we witnessed all pupils thriving, happy and learning.
Mr Bell and Mrs Horan share our vision , to provide continuous learning, opportunities to discover new skills and empower pupils to feel able to take risks and innovate.
At Saint Ambrose we aim to be a community that is always aspiring, always growing and where there is a culture that rewards effort and celebrates every learner’s potential.

This year we have focused on ensuring outdoor learning is fun. We have been working with Sprint Active to improve the outdoor environment at lunchtime. Our joint aim is to ensure the children are able to take part in a range of activities and are inspired to live healthy and active lives.

Over the next few weeks we will be asking all our children what activities they enjoy and what activities  they would like to take part in.

We will be working towards ensuring all children:

  • have access to a wide ranging, extended curriculum offer from Saint Ambrose School that builds upon learning within the curriculum
  • have a voice and are part of the decision making team

Curriculum Workshop Dates

House Captains

14 children in Year 6 delivered speeches to the rest of their school house today in a bid to become House Captain. They spoke with pride and demonstrated our Catholic virtues. They are excited to find out who won the vote in next week's assembly!

Saint Francis of Assisi is a very important saint in the life of the Catholic Church and school.  The children all know that Saint Francis loved and cared for the natural world and the animals within it. On Thursday 3rd October we will celebrate his feast day (4th October) and to mark the occasion we will hold the annual Blessing of the Animal Service on the school playground at 2.30p.m.

We would like to welcome all animals, large and small to this special service.

Year 6 Confirmation will take place on Saturday 7th December at 12 noon.

Sprint Active are our providers for After School Clubs.  Please see the adjacent letter for year groups and activities and also how you are able to sign your child up. There are still spaces available across all days.

Barnardos Information

Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.

We will continue sending out regular push notifications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.
