During Lent, we take time to reflect on the importance of almsgiving, prayer, and fasting as part of our spiritual journey. This week, our Lenten Walk on Wednesday helped us put these values into action as we raised funds for Father Hudson’s Caritas and CAFOD. The children kindly donated £1 to wear their own clothes, showing generosity and community spirit. The current total is £163, if there are any outstanding donations, please send them into school so we can add them to our final total. Well done so far!
Our Easter Egg Raffle is also underway, with tickets available for £1 each. We are very grateful to our wonderful staff, who have kindly donated a fantastic selection of Easter eggs for the prizes. The raffle will be drawn on Friday during our Easter assembly, and all proceeds will support our Lenten fundraising efforts. If your child would like to take part, tickets can still be purchased throughout the week through your child’s Class Teacher.
During our school Holy Week next week, the children will enter a special time of learning, reflection, and prayer as we journey through the final days of Jesus’ life. Each day offers an opportunity to pause and remember the key moments of the Passion—Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, the Last Supper, His prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, His trial, and His ultimate sacrifice on the cross. Through ageβappropriate activities, Scripture, and quiet reflection, the children will deepen their understanding of Jesus’ love and the meaning of His self-giving. This week invites them to be especially prayerful, to think about how they can follow Jesus’ example of kindness and compassion, and to recognise the hope that comes from His Resurrection. It is a meaningful time in our school calendar, helping the children grow in faith as we prepare to celebrate Easter.
Finally today, our Year One class delivered a truly wonderful assembly this week, showcasing their learning from their history topic on inspirational nurses. The children confidently shared their knowledge about Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole, highlighting the many challenges they faced and their determination to care for others, particularly during times of war. Through clear speaking voices, engaging mini acting scenes, and enthusiastic singing, the children brought their learning to life and captivated the audience from start to finish.
It was clear how much effort had gone into preparing for this special event, and the children should feel incredibly proud of themselves. Their confidence, teamwork, and enthusiasm shone throughout the assembly, making it a memorable experience for everyone who attended.
A huge thank you to Miss Brewer and the Year One support staff for their support and dedication, and to all the parents, carers, family, and friends who were able to join us this morning and supported with costumes, the children all looked the part. Well done everyone.
Have a lovely weekend.
