NB Reception parents: Your child will come again with a letter today regarding the hearing screening that will be taking place in school on Tuesday 31st January. You will need to register and log into the parent portal. Please can you do this even if you do not wish for your child to have their hearing test. Thank you.

We would be very grateful if you could spare a few minutes to complete the questionnaire below to help us gain insight into RE and Catholic Life of our school from your perspective.

Our Y6 pupils, organised a special day on Tuesday 17th January in memory of our wonderful coach, Mr Fisher. For a small donation, everyone came to school in their P.E. kit or Football kit and took part in some football games/activities in their classes during the day.

All donations will go towards a community fund that is being set up in Mr Fisher's memory to help young adults from all backgrounds gain a coaching or referee qualification.

We would like to thank you for your support with this special day.

We will be holding a parents SATs workshop on Thursday 2nd March at 9.00am. This will provide parents with an opportunity to find out about what is expected of our Year 6 pupils and how you can help your child prepare in the best way for them.

Our Education Mental Health Lead, Lorena, will be hosting an emotional wellbeing workshop for parents on Tuesday 24th January. There are 2 sessions that you can book onto via Parent pay.

Skools Out have a job vacancy at the breakfast and after-school club for a level 3 early years practitioner for 25 hours per week.

On Monday, children in Saint Wulstan's House from KS2 will have the opportunity to visit Worcester Cathedral to learn more about Saint Wulstan and to take part in some workshops. Look out for photos on next week's newsletter!

It was lovely to see so many children wearing something red this Thursday to celebrate Saint Wulstan's Feast Day.

Today so many rules have been broken and the children have thoroughly enjoyed picking a rule to break. I am now looking forward to Dress like a teacher day on Friday 10th March.

We are delighted to announce that we have accepted the challenge to live simply in our community. We are listening to Pope Francis' call in Laudato Si' that our "responsibility within creation and our duties towards nature and the Creator are an essential part of our faith".

Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide. 

We will begin sending out regular push notifications again about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target.

Over the next few weeks Mrs Brocklesby will be arranging meetings to support any families where attendance is a concern.

On Friday 3rd of February one of our pupils in Year 5 will be holding a cheer competition for Reception, Y1, Y2, Y3. Y4 and Y5. Children can sign up on the sheets that have been put in their classrooms.

Entries will be judged and winners announced on Monday 6th February.

This half term, we are growing to be eloquent and truthful in what we say about ourselves, the relations between people, and the world. As a school, we will help our pupils grow by developing an eloquent language which they can use to understand and articulate their emotions, belief, and questions and will encourage them to be truthful in the way they represent themselves and speak about the world.

We would love to hear if your child has been eloquent and truthful at home - please email year6_amb@emmausmac.com to let Miss Holtom know and she will arrange for your child to have a special certificate at the end of this half term in our special virtues assembly.

Please read the following tips to share with your son or daughter about staying safe online:

• Never give out personal information. This includes online people you know as well. Keep them private!
• Never send pictures of yourself because once it’s online, it’s there forever, and it could get into the wrong hands.
• Don’t make friends with people you don’t know. People are not always who they say they are.
• Tell your parents/carers what you’re doing online so they can act fast if there are any issues and can vet whether the website is safe for use
• Leave the website and tell a trusted adult immediately if you see something that concerns you or makes you feel unsafe
• Never show your real name, age or where you live in your username
• Use strong passwords which have a mix of numbers, letters and symbols
• Do not share passwords with others
• Don’t open an attachment unless you’re 100% sure it’s safe
• Don’t let strangers into your video calls. Blur your background so you don’t give away any information about where you are.
• Be careful who you webcam with
• Don’t meet up with someone you’ve only met online
• Be nice online
• Think before your post! This applies to when you send or forward content.
