Message from Mrs Laskey

Dear Parents and Carers

The Year of Prayer

In preparation for the 2025 Jubilee Year 'Pilgrims of Hope', 2024 has been designated a Year of Prayer by Pope Francis. There is a particular focus on the Our Father, and this presents us with a great opportunity to go back to the basics of prayer.

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

The Liturgical Group have met and thought about different ways that we could celebrate the Year of Prayer. One idea is to use Pope Francis’ Five Finger Prayer and to celebrate this through designing posters. The Liturgical Group presented this idea today to the children during assembly and your child will have brought a leaflet home explaining what they have to do. All poster designs need to be in school by Monday 29th April 2024 ready to be displayed around school.

Also, over the past two terms all the children have been very active in planning, preparing, leading and evaluating prayer and liturgy sessions in their classrooms for their friends. The

children and staff at St Ambrose would like to invite parents and carers to one of these sessions in the coming weeks. Please see below the date of your child’s class ‘Come and Pray with Us’ sessions.

On the afternoon, please come to the School Reception (Office) and sign in. Grandparents and younger siblings are welcome to attend.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Laskey

Odd Shoe Day for Fr Hudson's Society

Part of our Lenten fundraising this year was to support Fr Hudson's Society through the Big Walk. To continue this fundraising on Friday 26th April we will have a crazy odd shoe competition! To be in with a chance of winning a prize, your child needs to come into school with the weirdest and most wonderful combination of odd shoes, along with a £1 donation (this will go towards our fundraising). We look forward to seeing an array of different footwear on Friday. The £1 donation can be given through ParentPay or £1 cash on the day. Thank you for your continued support.

Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.

We will continue sending out regular push notifications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.
