Message from Mrs Brocklesby

THE JUBILEE YEAR 2025

The 2025 Jubilee Year 'Pilgrims of Hope' is now underway.

The Jubilee Year began with the opening of the Holy Door in St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, on Tuesday 24 December 2024 and runs to the Feast of Epiphany 2026.

Archbishop Bernard celebrated Mass to mark the opening of the Year, at St Chad’s Cathedral on Sunday 29 December 2024.

The Year of Jubilee launch for schools in the Diocese of Birmingham is now only 8 days away!  On Friday 24th January all children and staff will participate in this important event together.  Archbishop Bernard, Bishop Timothy and many schools within our Diocese will lead the event.
Next week we will learn the Learn our Jubilee Songs so we can participate in the live stream.

LUNCHTIME SPORTING ACTIVITIES

This week Miss Noble and Mr. Joyner have made a few changes to our lunchtime provision. Along with Sprint Active they delivered an assembly last week to our children aiming to inspire them to live healthy and active lives. After gaining feedback from the children they have introduced a range of new activities at lunchtime including archery and sporting house competitions on a Friday. The children have enjoyed the changes and I am delighted to share some feedback below:

Year 1
"We liked going round all the different zones"
"I liked archery because I haven't done it before"
"I liked using the bow and arrow"

Year 2
" Lunchtime was fun because we got to run really fast between cones and we all got to have a go"
"We had so much fun racing on our House Teams"

Year 4
"I enjoyed the penalty shoot outs with Mr Joyner"
"I hit an 8 on archery and I am really looking forward to trying to trying again next week to get a 10!"
" I love how bouncy the basketballs are and it was great fun"

The Book Fair will be in school from Monday 10th - Thursday 13th of February. All children will have the opportunity to purchase a book. during this week and the Fair will be open to parents at the end of the school day.

Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.

The Attendance Policy 2024-2025 states that:
Parents are asked to inform the school before 8.50a.m. on their child's first day of absence. This can be done via telephone (01562 823568) or email (enquiry_amb@emmausmac.com).  Parents are asked to keep the school informed of the child's continued absence if it does not constitute the 48 hours rule for the sickness bug.

We will continue sending out regular communications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.

Times of the School Day

8.50a.m. Gates close and registration in class
