Message from Mrs Laskey

This week, our wonderful Year Six children approached their SATs with determination, resilience and a fantastic attitude. We are incredibly proud of every single pupil for the hard work, preparation and perseverance they have shown throughout the week. They tackled each challenge with confidence, supported one another brilliantly and represented our school with maturity and positivity. A huge thank you also goes to our dedicated staff and supportive families who helped encourage the children every step of the way.

Please also remember that next Wednesday is our special Vocations Day, themed “Who is God choosing us to be?” This reflective and inspiring day forms part of our Wellbeing Wednesday programme, helping children explore their gifts, talents, aspirations and sense of purpose within our school community and wider world. The day also reflects the mission of “Forming Christ-centred pilgrims of hope with kind hearts, questioning minds, a thirst for knowledge and a hunger for justice.” Through prayer, reflection and discussion, the children will be encouraged to consider how they can live out this mission in their daily lives.

Regular school attendance is very important for every child, helping them grow in confidence, make friendships, and reach their full potential. Coming to school every day helps children build positive routines and ensures they do not miss important learning and fun experiences. Each day at school gives children the chance to learn new skills, take part in exciting activities, and feel part of the school community. Good attendance also helps children develop responsibility and independence from an early age. Being in school every day, ready to learn, gives every child the best opportunity to thrive and succeed.

Next week is our Streak Week. Children who achieve a full attendance streak throughout the week will enjoy a special reward at the end of the week! Every child who attends school every day will earn extra playtime and an ice lolly as a celebration of their excellent attendance and commitment to learning.

First Holy Communion Parent Meeting Dates

The parent meetings will be held in the Adam's lounge in the Parish Centre at 6pm on the following dates. If you can't attend for any reason please contact Father Lamb at the Rectory on 01562 822839.

We are Chapman Opticians – we have a practice on Vicar Street in Kidderminster. We want to share our leaflet with you regarding short-sightedness in children.

It’s estimated that up to 20% of children have myopia (short-sightedness), which is increasing. For children who need them, prescription glasses can make a meaningful difference, helping them feel more engaged in lessons and more confident about taking part in class. Research also shows that when children have the vision support they need, wearing glasses can contribute positively to confidence, educational outcomes and overall mental wellbeing.

The attached leaflet includes the above, and highlights that:

  • Children under 16 years of age are entitled to a free NHS sight test
  • There are now advanced options available to help manage short-sightedness in children where appropriate
