SPORTS DAY ON TUESDAY 19TH JULY IS CANCELLED DUE TO EXTREME HEAT WEATHER FORECASTS.

EXTREME WEATHER FORECAST

Please be aware the Met Office has issued an amber warning for extreme heat across the country from Sunday to Tuesday. Please be reassured that in school we will keep children hydrated, and avoid vigorous physical activity. Next week please send children to school in their P.E. kits or summer uniform and ensure they come to school wearing sunscreen. We will also reduce the use of lighting and other electrical equipment and change the format of P.E. lessons to indoor coaching sessions.

Just to also make you aware that TAPP won't be selling anything after school next week as we feel it is best to get the children home safely out of the heat. Thank you to everyone who has been supporting TAPP by buying things after school this year - this money goes into providing wonderful experiences for our pupils.

Year 2 also upheld the British Values. We showed respect to all of the animals and rule of law by following the rules of the Safari park to keep the everyone safe.

MISSION STATEMENT SUPER LEARNING DAY

On Thursday, we had a super-learning day all about our mission statement: 'we do our best by following Jesus'. Following work staff and pupils have completed throughout the year, in our classes we worked together to showcase how we can live out our mission and presented it in an end of day assembly. Reception showed us the importance of praying and Year 1 highlighted how we can be kind and helpful. Year 2 sang a wonderful song about how we can be loving and Year 3 talked about the importance of forgiving people like Jesus did. Year 4 shared their gifts and talents and Year 5 highlighted how we can show understanding and be faithful. Year 6 wowed us with a mission impossible sketch teaching us that we should trust and be respectful. It was a fantastic learning experience!

YEAR 2 ASSEMBLY

We are so proud of all the Year 2 children who presented their assembly today about our Geography topic, 'We Are Going On A Safari'. We shared all of our knowledge about Africa and Kenya. Year 2 also performed a song and played the musical egg shakers. What a super celebration of our knowledge, skills and memories.

SCHOOL FETE

Thank you to everyone for attending our school fete it was a brilliant school event. I was so proud of all our children who ran and organised the stalls. I would like to thank the TAPP group and Mrs Wallace for all of their hard work, drive and determination to plan the event. The fete raised an amazing £1595.15 and the class that raised the most money was year 6. WELL DONE EVERYONE! At the fete we also thanked Father Lamb for his thirty years service in Saint Ambrose Parish.

FOUNDATION GOVERNOR VACANCY

Several vacancies have become available to become a governor of our school where you can work with our principal to help support and develop an excellent Catholic curriculum at our school!

Our school mission statement is: ‘We do our best by following Jesus’ and we live it out in everything we do. Also, we follow our three main school rules: ‘be safe, be ready and be respectful’. We are respectful to the staff and to other pupils. We stay safe by listening to the staff and by following the rules. We are always ready by practicing lockdowns yearly and fire drills bimonthly.

We do many fun things such as going on trips and residential trips as well as life skills such as cooking, first aid and cleaning every half term. Thanks to grants and contributions to the school we have an outdoor gym, a small climbing frame and an Astro-turf football pitch to use during PE and breaktimes. The staff organize many after school clubs to go to and events all year round.

You can become a governor and help ensure that many more wonderful opportunities are provided for the students.

PSHE

In our PSHE lessons this term, we will be discussing the NSPCC’s PANTS rules. These are designed to teach pupils how to stay safe from sexual abuse, without giving explicit information or telling scary stories or even using the term “sexual abuse”. In the lesson, children will learn about the ‘PANTS’ acrostic, which stands for:
• Privates are private.
• Always remember your body belongs to you.
• No means no
• Talk about secrets that upset you
• Speak up, someone can help.
The lesson will be fully age-appropriate.
More information about talking PANTS, including a short film and a parent guide can be found at nspcc.org.uk/pants

PARISH SURVEY

The Church is currently following a directive from Pope Francis to focus on reflection and sharing of the whole church. Pope Francis states,

"By walking together, and together reflecting on the journey made, the Church will be
able to learn from what it will experience which processes can help it to live
communion, to achieve participation, to open itself to mission."

At Saint Ambrose we aim to enable families to experience the wide parish Community and for us to reflect and learn please complete the survey, see link below. The results will be shared with the parish to enable us to grow and learn together.
