Message from Mrs Brocklesby
The Archdiocese of Birmingham are launching a 'Pledge £1' initiative. The aim of the initiative is for every child to raise £1 for Father Hudson's Care.
They provide a range of services to people across the Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham and offer friendship, care and support to everyone. Father Hudson's Care work with people of different ages, backgrounds, races, nationalities, and disabilities ensuring that everyone has impartial and fair treatment.
At Saint Ambrose we will be taking part in a sponsored walk during Lent and £1 raised by every child will be donated to Father Hudson's Care. Thank you in advance for your support.
THANK YOU MRS PRICE
Yesterday was Mrs Price's final day at Saint Ambrose after 20 years of dedicated service. She has been a class teacher and a SENDCo. In that time she has married (formally Miss Davies) and had three sons; so may of taught those of you who are now parents. She will be moving on to pastures new, where we all wish her well.
It was wonderful to celebrate Mrs Price's commitment to Saint Ambrose yesterday in a special assembly.

Dear Parents and Carers
On Monday morning the whole school were introduced to the new virtues for this half term, these being faith-filled and hopeful. The virtues tree that is known as the Catholic Schools Pupil Profile is created by several sets of virtues and values and upon the tree is a goldfinch. I showed the children several pieces of religious art that has the goldfinch in them and explained to the children that it represents Jesus’ death and resurrection. It is said that as the goldfinch eats thistles and thorns the red marking on their head is from a bird taking a thorn from the crown of thorns that Jesus wore on his head during His crucifixion. We now have pictures of goldfinches displayed around school to remind us of Jesus’ presence. Following the prayer and liturgy the children went back to class to think about how they can demonstrate the values of being faith-filled and hopeful.
On Thursday we all started the morning with a fun fact Class Assembly from Year Five on the Terrible Tudors. From the onset you could see that the children had really enjoyed learning about Henry VIII and his six wives. They sang a song with the classic divorced-beheaded-died-divorced-beheaded-survived verse and were great on taking on different roles and narration. It was great to see active learning in place and thank you to all the parents and grandparents who were able to attend. Thank you to Mr. Pitt for organising this for Year Five and for the whole school to enjoy. We look forward to Year One’s Class Assembly next Thursday where we will be celebrating World Book Day.
Today all the children from Saint Chad’s House (yellow) went to church to celebrate Mass as tomorrow is Saint Chad’s feast day. Thank you to the servers who helped Canon Lamb and to the excellent readers. You were all very clear in your voice and took care. Today all the children in Saint Chad’s house have brought home a yellow topped cupcake, made by AIP to celebrate the feast day. We now only have Saint Richard’s Feast Day to look forward to.
Year Six represented the school today at the World Day of Prayer service that took place in Church. The service itself was prepared by the Christian women of Palestine, the land in which Jesus was born, ministered and died, where the Christian faith began and is rooted. Thank you to all of Year Six who all had responsibilities such as, welcoming the guests, handing out the booklets, singing and reading the prayers for peace.
On Sunday at the 11a.m. Parish Mass we will welcome the children and their families who are going to be enrolled on the sacramental programme for receiving their First Holy Communion. Please keep the children and families in your prayers over the coming months.
Have a lovely weekend.
Mrs. Laskey
Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.
We will continue sending out regular push notifications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.
