Message from Mrs Brocklesby

At Saint Ambrose, the nurturing environment provided at our inclusive school by staff helps our children to flourish, achieve and enjoy their learning.  Our children try to be the best they can be and are encouraged to ‘have a go’ in their learning.  The learning experiences provided by our teaching staff are supported by our team of teaching assistants.  All children learn, develop and progress in their own ways and we support all children to be the best they can be.  Some children may require additional support to reach their full potential.  As a school we monitor and put the relevant support mechanisms in place, reviewing these measures regularly.  Everyone needs help sometimes and it is brave and okay to ask for help when you need it.

Special Educational Needs (SEND) are categorised into the Four Areas of Need. These are:

  • Communication and Interaction
  • Cognition and Learning
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties
  • Sensory and/or Physical Needs

If you have any SEND enquiries, please contact the school office and our SENDCo will happily discuss these with you. I am delighted to inform you that Mr Pitt will be taking on the role of Acting SENDCo for the Summer term.

Message from Mrs Laskey

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week the children have thoroughly enjoyed being part of National Science Week.  It started with a Bzzy Bees whole school assembly from the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and the children have had plenty of opportunities to research scientists, learn about time and conduct different science investigations.  Also, in the class RE reflection books children have learnt about Saint Albert the Great who is the patron saint for Science.  Thank you to Miss Crumpler, our Science Leader for organising the week and we look forward to hearing the children's thoughts and seeing photographs of the children at work.

On Thursday Year Two had their Class Assembly, Miss Brewer said,

'Year 2 led us in a wonderful Class Assembly. The children retold the story of Handa’s Surprise where the children showcased their acting skills. It was wonderful to see the work that had gone into the props. They were also full of facts about Africa which linked to their current Geography unit. Thank you to Miss Crumpler, Mrs Davies and Mrs Staite for putting the assembly together. Year One loved watching it and here are some quotes.

Grace-It was really exciting. I liked the animals taking the fruit from the basket.

Valeria-The animal were cheeky and took the fruit.

Charlotte: It was fun because I loved listening to the story.'

Next week, as a school we are going to meet every day to remember Holy Week.  Holy Week reminds us of the last events in Jesus' life before he died.  The children are going to lead us all in prayer when we think about the thoughts and feelings of Jesus, his disciples, Mary and the crowds of people during the events of Jesus entering Jerusalem (Palm Sunday), Jesus destroying the Temple, the last supper and finally the stations of the cross.  On Friday we are going to have a whole school Mass in church at 9.30a.m. and all are welcome to join.

On Thursday we will welcome the Easter Bunny into school, and we look forward to seeing all the different Easter bonnet designs.  Happy making over the weekend.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

First Holy Communion

For children in Year 3 that are making their First Holy Communion, you can now purchase the workbook on ParentPay for £7.50. Once you have completed the purchase you can collect the book from the school office.

Can we remind you that the first parent/carer meeting will be on Tuesday 19th March at 6pm in the Parish Hall.

The children have been busy creating posters to promote the Big Lent Walk to raise money for Cafod and Father Hudsons (see below) that will take place in the last week of term. Please see the letter below with more information.

Regular attendance at school means that your child will make the most of their education and improve their chances later on in life. At St Ambrose, good attendance is of high importance and we strive to have at least 96% attendance. Please help us with this target. If you need any support, then school is here to help so that your child can get the very best out of the education we provide.

We will continue sending out regular push notifications about attendance so that you are aware if you child falls below our 96% target and we are working with Louise Howles, our Education Welfare Officer to support us with improvements.
